I can't see the appeal of a Squidward-only show, Spongebob needs a supporting role to drive him nuts.
Yeah he did. The current showrunner himself said this when Nick announced that camp coral spinoff. Apparently he actually knew Stephen so we can take his word for it.
I honestly can't imagine the appeal of this anyways. I like Squidward but you have to have Spongebob around to be his foil and if that's the case it's just a series of Spongebob episodes focused on Squidward instead of Spongebob. Or... they'll create an all new character to replace Spongebob as Squidward's foil and he'll probably end up being terrible given the current climate. Either way I see zero reason to be interested in this.
Going to be hard doing a spinoff on a character who lives next to the main character. I am assuming this will be a Cleveland show type of deal maybe Squidward moves away.
I don’t really like the idea of Spongebob spin offs at all. These characters work best when they’re together. I think it would be better to make a different show in the same vein like what Futurama is to The Simpson’s.
