In a fit of madness after trying to wrap my head around all the various releases of the Spychangers and Gobot molds, I spent a few hours researching and photoshopping this chart (mostly for my own personal reference) and decided to share it.

It's WAAAAY too large (~4mb) for me to upload here without a drastic drop in image quality, so here's a link to Gdrive:

    Spychangers_chart_1.4.png

And a slightly less quality jpg link to Imgur:

    imgur.com

Hopefully it will be useful. I believe it contains all of the iterations of these molds, and is reasonably comprehensible and comprehensive. If you see any mistakes, please let me know.

    EDIT: Updated to version 1.4
(added Gearhead and Motormouth variants, cleaned up lines, rounded edges, corrected some gun colors, noted Ironhide/Hoist alternate card name)

That's how it appears. Hastak squeezed a lot of repaint value out of them!

Very nice work! I've got a bunch of Spychangers weapons I have no idea which goes to which figure and this chart will help a lot :)

I've always said how much I love Spychangers, but looks like my collection is tiny....

Are basically all of these spy changers from the RiD line? Just variants and exclusives? or they from different lines?

I have all of the retail RiD Spychangers I ever found which was only about 14 apparently.. lol

Thanks for sharing! It's great to have a comprehensive illustrated guide. :)

Can you do one for the Minicons? :)  j/k

I believe the "Gobots" were released with G2 around 1995. The rest of the spychangers repaints were released with RID, or post-RID as "Universe."

Probably more info out there if you do a little digging.

    Multiple lines:

    G2
Car Robots (Which had a lot of variants)
    RiD
    Universe
    And one from the movieverse.

Love that chart! Thanks so much for doing that! For those looking for more info about these, I found tfu.info to be a great resource. Wish I had this chart also when cataloging mine not too long ago!

Cool chart...you seem to be missing the opaque (non-transparent) versions of Motormouth and Gearhead, if you want to count variants separately:

    Shmax.com: Motormouth
    Shmax.com: Gearhead

Also, as you mention in the legend, the Ironhide (F2) was recycled as in the Universe line, but as Hoist:
    Shmax.com: Product Information - Hoist

so, would that count as another one for the chart in that he has a name change?

Great job on the chart. My favorite is this unofficial one:

Thanks for the heads up -- that's why I posted this here soliciting input. I never knew those variants even existed! I'll edit this today and shoehorn them in there, no problem.

I'll add a note about Ironhide/Hoist's name there, too. I don't think I can ever be 100% inclusive, but if I can add more information, I don't see why I shouldn't.

Is that a real unpainted testshot? Or is that just a Jazz with all the paint stripped off, repurposed for the typical dairycon lulz? If this is anything more than a one-off, I can add it to the chart, since the handpainted botcon Nightracer is on there already anyway.

    That is awesome, great work.

I did a bunch of Spychanger research myself earlier in year for this:

    spychangers - RIDForever

Wish I woulda saw it then!
