"Springer: Twice the Life" I think it's interesting that neither of Springer's two modern-day toys are Triple Changers, but one has his helicopter mode and the other has his armored-car mode. As far as I'm concerned, this is a clear-cut case of a transporter accident! (I also have a related theory as to why they look like Whirl and Roadbuster.) And yeah, I know Springer's helicopter toy was supposed to be his ancient War Within form, but the toy is very much an Earth-style helicopter, and it barely matches the way he was drawn anyway. Comments, crits? And can anybody tell why I picked those particular background characters...? - Jackpot
I love that style you got goin there. I'm workin on a fanfic, maybe if I finish it, and if you think its any good, you could do a "cover" for me? Not for profit of course, but to make the thread look cool if I post my story..... Anyway, this is a great piece. I've always loved painted TF covers
I love this piece, though I can't be sure why you picked those background characters, though it has me curious. I see Prime, Nightbeat and I don't recognise the third fella, is it Beachcomber?
I'm digging the style, idea, overall feel of the picture man! I love the concept it reminds me of one of the old Star Trek episodes. Making me wanna come up with some explanation for repaints.
I love this picture and explaination for the two models. But as for the reason for the background guys I am at loss also. Edit: I had to put this as my iPhone background. Hope you don't mind.
I absolutely LOVE this piece. The polish on the illustration itself is really slick, and the concept is really clever. Nice work
jackpot's been around the block a bit. he's even done official stuff for hasbro. just so you know who you're asking favors from (no offense, i've made the same mistake myself) you did this on the, uh, tablet thingie like you did the megatron piece dude? nice seeing the new style but hope it doesnt mean we dont see the old style with the lineart. you pop in once in a while but when you do, man...
Ha! No way! This is just too bizzare, I swear I was just today reading the comics that the background characters and portal concept came from! Is it from the old Marvel issue #69 "Eye of the Storm" where Nightbeat figures out a way to grab Ratchet out of the "nothing" space with the tracker portal? XD It was the way that you drew Prime that made me double-take, you're spot on with the style, love it. btw, just went on your art profile page and saw that you drew one of my favorite pictures of Nightbeat, the "Who Shot Optimus Prime"! Love your work!
Thank you! I'm flattered that you'd like to see my art on your work, but I barely have enough time to put my own ideas on "paper." I stopped taking commissions of any sort some time back for that reason. Thanks! And yeah, I was totally thinking of "The Enemy Within" when I came up with this, though on another board someone one-upped my geekery by mentioning Thomas Riker. Never say never, and all that. But yeah, I made this on my Modbook, and I'm planning on sticking with this general style for the foreseeable. The problem I encountered with the line-art method was that the tightness required by the lines put me in a mentally "final" state too early, when really I was only at the halfway point. Coloring felt like a nothing but a burden. This more painterly style lets me go from loose to tight in just one big progression, which feels more natural and enjoyable. Plus it helps me avoid wasting effort on detail and precision in areas that don't need it. For instance, arguably my favorite part of this piece is the Springers' legs, which look great all loose and brush-strokey in a way that most likely would've been completely thwarted by inking first. But who knows what the future holds... Certainly I can see potential in working some judiciously-applied lines back into a painterly piece, to make important elements really pop. It's a big crazy world! DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING Well done, my radiophonic friend! That's exactly what I was going for - it might be hard to see, but I even put the probe on the floor, all busted up again. Darn that wacky ol' trans-time dimensional portal! (For bonus points, can you tell what the title is from? It's also related to that storyline...) Anyway, glad you like this and my other work. Thank you - and everyone else - for the feedback. As always, I really appreciate it! - Jackpot
Hmmm, Twice the Life... I would have to guess it comes from what Nightbeat and Prime originally pulled outta the portal-- the Ratchet-Megatron monster! 'H3lp U2!' Did I get the bonus pts? XD
You're on the right track, but it's a little more specific. It has to do with the "H3LP U2!" comic in particular. (You might want to look that issue up on TFWiki.net...) - Jackpot
Hmm I just read the issue... Here's my next guess XD: does it have to do with the fact that Ratchet and Megatron's nervous system are bonded and thus one cannot survive without the other? Or maybe the idea that Ratchet and Megatron are both going to get a second lease on life?
did you ever watch star trek the next generation? because this reminds of the episode when they find the other riker
