Hello, Again, I'm sorry to start another thread so soon. I'm not too interested in the comics, but for those that are, I thought might like to know that Seibertron has put up a notice that a preview is available for Spotlight: Cyclonus on Chris Ryall's blog. Here is Chris Ryall's blog: with the preview pages by E.J. Su. http://ryalltime.blogspot.com/2008/03/when-in-rhode.html I wish I could draw with just a fraction of the skill that these artists have! Edit--My apologies, I forgot to attach the pictures.
I'm hoping they come out with a Cyclonus toy in the Universe line that is retooled and not just a repaint.
That would be nice, I must admit. Liking the new Cyclonus look. Almost Deathbringer-ish in a sense. Looking forward to this and the Sideswipe spotlight.
Wow! Fantastic art. Hopefully next month at Botcon IDW will have some pages for us to check at their table. -airfox
I like how EJ Su's artwork is becoming more and more like an authentic japanese manga. When he started I thought everything was too static and looked like a CAD drawing. He definitely improved a LOT since he began doing TF artwork for IDW. It's much more expressive now, almost makes me want to buy IDW comics. I still don't like the gundam-ish designs, though. That's not a criticism for EJ Su only, but to the creative people working with TF cartoons and comics in the past years. I think TFs lose their identity whenever you come up with a visual renewal with a new series or comic. It's kinda ironic that they keep writing stories about the same old characters, but are always asking the art team to give them a new look. I'd say come with brand new characters instead. Just my two cents.
Hummm. It seems almost out of character for Cyclonus to move like that. I know characters can greatly change show to comics (Grimlock for example) but Cyc always seemed more graceful than that. Looking forward to seeing this play out. Thanks for the preview.
True, I agree. I see where you are coming from. It seems to be the easiest way to make something look more detailed for the majority of today's artists drawing robots. Unfortunately in doing so most forget what function certain parts serve, and forsake that and gundamify them.
Looks pretty good. I like how EJ's artwork has improved. Wonder what planet Cyclonus just landed on, because he looks ticked off...
man i would love for a new series with all new characters or some kind of spin-off or something at least i think thats what attracts me to Rodimus the most. New leader, new autobots. all that stuff.. just makes things more interesting
why? easy. name recognition. ppl always want to see their fave characters even when the story/art sucks. even if the story/art is good, a new character is not a sure sell. e j su is lookin good.
