You may wanna watch a few Knight's interviews then or even the Bee SDCC panel of last year, he's not too shy about throwing a soft shade on Bay's past decisions.

Also the last part is awfully wrong, his last movie is a treat and if anything the good work he did with this movie will give him even more relevance that in his element is not even needed given that Laika is almost universally praised for their movies. Oh and that is my opinion I guess.

Yea Bumblebee is a reboot. Lorenzo says otherwise but once Hasbro sees Bumblebee push SIEGE and Bumblebee movie toy sales which direction do you think they'll go with?

Reboot it is. Bay spent 10 years making Transformers in his image. Knight can spend the next 10 restoring their image and he's off to a pretty damn good start.

Im not doubting Knight will have many hits to come. I just disagree with all the notions from movieverse haters that this guy was heaven sent to tear Bays house down. I saw the bumblebee movie and quite frankly in my opinion it waa pure Bayverse with a touch of G1 for the haters. I just didnt see this imaginary reboot everyone swore was going to happen. I saw a prequel. A prequel plauged by contradictions, but still a prequel. It was a nice nod to the Bayverse films. Personally I could have lived without the opening G1 scene. It didnt mesh well with Bayverse aesthetic in my opinion. I like both chocolate and pickles but I dont like pickles on my chocolate. If they edited out the opening G1scene and replaced it with a star wars style opening paragraph I would have liked it more. Bumblebee was clearly Bayverse aesthetic and looked like he didnt belong in that universe with those G1 style bots.

I hope they leave the G1 material in its own movie. The Bay designs appeal more in the end.

Also, I don't think Knight will direct more transformers.

I truly agree that lorenzo di bonaventura who is the producer for the Transformers Film Series needs to go because what was said is ridiculous about the mid credits scenes in Bumblebee. I’m also a huge fan of Transformers and I do feel that there are some things people should just not try to do and I really did like Transformers 2007 movie but the rest of them don’t make any sense and aren’t really good but that’s my opinion. I do feel strongly that lorenzo di bonaventura doesn’t need to be the producer of the films anymore or at least talk about them because he isn’t there for the full process and if I could get someone who would be a better replacement for him I would actually have to choose Travis Knight to be the producer/director of the Transformers Film Franchise because it feels like he knows what he want his fans want to see. Plus, this is a show my dad grew up with and showed me and my sister and he came out of the movie grinning saying it was a great movie because “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

Bay had a good run for 10 years. It's time for something different. The difference is Knight and day.

What Knight started, I want more of.

The disconnect you have with reality is stunning. The thing that gets me is, we can't excuse it away under the pretense of "Aww, that's okay. He doesn't "get" it." You actually actively and purposely live Adam Savage's line about "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" That's okay when you're the host of a show doing silly things on a network's dime and he's just a good-natured, funny guy... It's another when you say the sky is green and the ocean's red and just revel in it like it's actually reality.

That's exactly what you do in your choices of music, movies, and facts. It's not endearing. There's a difference between having an opinion (which you'll cry about) and living a lie on purpose.

I think Zo is one of those producers that wants that ego stroke of,"I'm in charge of this ship", hence why he talks so damn much. I agree, he'd be far less grating if he was like most producers and just sit back and let folks do their job and collect the check. Because he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about yet he acts like he does. I swear, if he was lower on the totem pole in the producer's lineup, he'd probably have been booted off ages ago but he, unfortunately, has pull so we're stuck with him for the time being.

That said, Zo is just noise and should always be taken with a grain of salt. Dude's a wannabe hollywood bigwig.

On it being a prequel, cohesive continuity was hardly the previous 5 films strong suit. So if people wanna go ahead and believe di Bonavetura when he talks, there's already enough gas in the tank to roll with that. More than that though, Bumblebee was drawn up when a sequel to The Last Knight was all but assured.

After TLK comparatively bombed, it's easy to see how the loose continuity the movies play with meant that the suits might use Bumblebee as a reboot. Prior to seeing it, it was a no brainer the film was a prequel meant to exist in established continuity. Having seen it yesterday, it could probably stand as both. You might wanna squint a bit to help, like :lol . If a Bumblebee sequel comes, we'll know what direction the money want it heading in. I know I see it as a reset.

Plus if you can have a Spike Witwicky in G1 and a Spike Witwicky in IDW, there's a place for a Sector 7 in the Bayverse and a Sector 7 in the Knightverse. Just familiarity, innit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How can you sit there and tell me these two designs are the same aesthetic? You are seeing what you want to see.

    Bumblebee comparison.jpg

Sure, Bayverse Bee would have looked out of place on Cybertron, but Knightverse Bee fits in just fine with the rest of the designs.

Im not getting your opinion based comment any more than youre getting mine. Stop talking about what you claim is "reality" and quoting semi-famous people I never heard of in my life. The fact is Bumblebee is a prequel. You have a producer officially telling you through a vetted fan site that reports official TF news. I know its not what you wanted to hear, it ruined your day, and you disagree. But that doesnt change that its a fact. Deal with it.

I'd actually argue that his eyes are just about the biggest difference (thankfully). They're so big and expressive and cute, unlike those tiny little lights in the center of a skeleton of metal. His general head design is based on the original films, sure, but even then only in the broadest of strokes.

I got your comment just fine, I disagree with it because it's nonsensical. You literally don't get mine because you live in Fantasyland. Semi-famous people? Adam Savage is far from semi-famous. He's worked in the industry for decades, both behind and in front of the camera. He's helped push education issues for a long time, now and today's (and future) generations will take a new career path because of people like him and his costars. You've never heard of him? That's frightening. You play it off like you don't know any of this "because you have a life" but it's actually due to ignorance. You actively avoid anything that might enlighten or educate you, you actively seek out the lowest common denominator in entertainment and info, your avatar of Sixnine (a proven criminal pervert and thug) and "reppin'" Miami (which you went overboard with on Seibertron) proves you're all about flash and visuals, never about substance and what's beneath the surface. It also shows in your entertainment choices. You revel in garbage and wonder why people respond to you in the manner that they do.

No one wants to celebrate ignorance and stupidity, no one wants to pat you on the back and say it's okay or that they agree with you just to make you happy. They want to wake you up and show that these movies are awful, they're offensive, they're garbage and they're insulting. Bumblebee is the first film to give any of us hope and you'd rather take that away from us because you're afraid of losing the garbage popcorn flicks you choose to understand and connect with because you don't want to better yourself or the movies. That's ridiculous. That's stupid.

And if Bumblebee ends up being a prequel, no matter how pointless, wasteful and stupid that is, it's not the end of the world for me. I'll just stop watching the movies, I'll continue to collect the toys and I'll carry on with my life. I grew up with Transformers, I love Transformers, but even I know when to draw the line and not let it consume me. I used to think like you, I always thought this was the best we were going to get, but now that I see I was wrong, I want to be a better human being, I want to be a better me. I want my entertainment to do the same, there's nothing wrong with that.

    And I'm not alone.

Dude, you may not agree with him, but there is no point to insult in such level a person with different opinion, he's doing nothing than discuss.

And i believe and hope that BB is a reboot

I'm not trying to insult him. I'm pointing out facts. He's even stated his opinion is more important than ours and he chooses this over that, etc. He admittedly loves garbage stuff and has put us down because we don't. In various threads. I'm not joking. He's done it to people over at Seibertron as well.

He's more than entitled to his opinion, much like you and I are entitled to ours, but he's willingly missing the point and being closeminded on purpose. You can't have a discussion with someone like that, but you can counter their comments every chance you get so you can try and stem the flow of ignorance.

EDIT: I'd like to add one more thing... I don't think he's stupid at all. I think his actions and choices are because he actively seeks out the worst of the worst. He, himself, is far from stupid. He's clearly intelligent but chooses dumb stuff because it entertains him. That's great to a point, but he acts like his way is the best way in a lot of posts and it isn't. It bothers me that a clearly intelligent man chooses to annoy because he can.

    He could make great strides.

OK, first of all I’m going to call bullshit on the “99% prequel, 1% reboot” conversation – di Bonaventura never had any conversation with anyone where these percentages were used in regards to this topic, this was all just some made up pretext for him to spin this. And yes, he ignored the landfill of other non-fitting pieces that were flat out contradictions and pulled one tiny piece of rubble from the pile that’s a gray area and stated that this tiny piece of rubble was ALL that was causing confusion. And yes, this is a man that has been, at best a road block to good things, and at worst the biggest albatross in the attempt to get quality product out of the franchise. Buuuuuuttttt, frankly, it wouldn’t be a TF sequel/prequel without contradictions to prior movies; that’s as big a component of the TV movieverse as transforming robots.

And frankly, it is a prequel…in much the same way as 2006’s ‘Superman Returns’ is a sequel in the ‘Donnerverse’. You stand back far enough and not give a shit, it fits well enough. The characters are kinda the same, relationships are kinda similar, it’s enough where you can go with it, you just have to suspend memory as well as disbelief for a sizable chunk of it, and completely pretend the prior two movies didn’t happen.

Are you serious ? There is no "Knightverse" Bumblebee. Just a Bayverse Bumblebee with VW kibble. Folding his wings back does not hide his Bay aesthetic.

Prime got a complete makeover in "Knightverse" to resemble the likeness of his G1 counterpart:

Bumblebee on the other hand, didnt:

About the only similarity in aesthetic here is he is yellow. But you cant blame Travis Knight for not completely overhauling the aesthetic of the star character. Especially since this film is a prequel offically.
