I’m confident that it is a new continuity. I believe that this was originally intended as a prequel to the bay films however they changed their minds midway through filming and the finished intention was to set up for a new set of films to follow that are not in the same continuity as the bay films. If paramount decide not to follow this up then it will left in some sort of odd limbo.

I certainly don't want to say that Bay and his team's efforts were completely pointless/worthless, because they weren't. I don't think there's any reason to be hateful about it. I do think it ran its course and they backed themselves into a wall and Lorenzo confirms it's all over and TLK was indeed the last one. There's nowhere to go from here with it. I think they should make it a preboot leading into a sequel of the other films, like Star Trek was. That was OUR Spock (Spock Prime) who opened the door for the new Spock who's there now in J.J. Trek.

There's nothing wrong with letting both timelines exist, there's no need to crap all over the current generation's transfandom, but we need a different take and a few toes will need some stepping on, it's par for the course. Just not steamrolling the entire foot.

I took it more as aatriggered PTSD episode as Bumblebee regain all his memories as a Cybertronian soldier when he saw Charley get thrown down and hurt by Mr Nest agent who's name now escapes me.

But it brings up an interesting question, are Decepticons just Cybertronians who've embrace their anger and does that mean they can come back from it? Only Decepticons without the red eye(s) was Shockwave who's been often deplicted as a cold and calculating type, which Yellow would make a good neutral color for.

Whatever the reason I did find a red eye bee more unsettling than any Decepticon.

Much as I hated that time traveling back to save the future trope I do admit it needed to be done to allow new Trek to exist without contradicting classic Trek. Not that I love where new Trek went but that's a story for another board!

Looking forward to seeing this, so far Skullface and his entourage seem to be the only ones with a problem with it and you know what? That's fine, he's perfectly entitled not to like it.

I'll make my opinion when I see it but I'm thinking I'm going to like it!

Absolutely incredible!!! Worth it alone for the first 5 minutes. A movie with heart and we'll balanced comedy. Loved every minute of it.

Just wanted to say I didn't like Blitzwing's death at all. If they completely shrug off bullets why does pushing a missile with their bare hands into somewhere where the armour would logically be thickest penetrate? And if it's that easy to penetrate with it, why is it so difficult to pull out? Yes it has those fins on it, but Blitzwing is tugging on it like it's the sword in the fucking stone. Finally, why doesn't Blitzwing just turn around or better yet, FLY??? He was perfectly fine with doing that liberally throughout the fight, dodging and weaving and flying out of the way, and yes I know that Bumblebee broke his jetpack by stabbing it, but you hear flight sound effects when Bumblebee is lying on the ground so why does he all of a sudden need to stand completely still? I get that Blitzwing was a minor character and I'm fine with him dying, but it could have been handled so much better, literally just have Bee stick the missile into the 6 or so holes he stabbed into Blitzwing like a minute beforehand; It makes sense as to why it would penetrate and get stuck in the mechanical parts or something, justifying him struggling to wrench it out.

Just saw the movie, really enjoyed it btw. The chain caught dropkick when he was in helicoptor mode right? So to me, when he transformed, his parts shifted, causing the chains to get caught in his body, internally. So when bumblebee pulled the chain, I can understand why his body dismantled into pieces. The explosion is unexplainable but I guess you can chalk it up to movie dramatization.

That's an interesting new take. Never thought of it like that. Of course it makes no sense since both Sentinel Prime and Jetfire's eyes didn't change color but if this is a new franchise they could use it as an opporunity to establish this new idea.

Optimus': "Autobots! Retreat!" line had much more emotion in it than when he heard Bumblebee speaking in TLK. I actually felt the distress in his voice!

Saw the movie a second time. I'll be posting a second thoughts review in the main review thread soon-ish, but for now i just wanted to point out a few things i noticed:

-Idk if anyone else has mentioned this, but I saw Bumblebee in his Camaro mode (instead of the VW) riding alongside G1 Optimus as being kind of a symbolic representation of how G1 and Movie Transformers (and by extension G1 fans and Bayverse fans) can co-exist, living side-by-side. Or at least that's the meaning i got from it.

-I love how Bumblebee's battle mask(apart from being an homage to the G1 toy's battle mask) is used as a way to represent the two sides of Bee, separating his fun, friendly side from the destructive warrior urges he's trying to suppress. Very Iron Giant-esque, that duality.

-The scene where Charlie is telling Bee about her dead father comes immediately after the scene where Bumblebee sees a message from Optimus Prime, and the last memory he had of him. Definitely some good parallels there.

-Did they imply the Decepticons created the Internet? That was weird.

-Missed opportunity to have John Cena not be a member of GI Joe. Come on, the Cinematic Universe opportuinity was right there!

-If you choose to believe this movie is a prequel, then it retroactively explains why Bee has stuck with the radio voice for so long instead of getting it fixed: it's in memory of a friend who taught him how to communicate without it.

    Ok, that's all for now.

About the same as "Venom" and "Rampage", not nearly as good as the new "Jumanji".

It was basically "Harry and the Hendersons" plus some neat G1 cameos. It is not a good movie and will not revive the movie franchise.

Mutebee is unsalvageable as a concept. A mistake from 11 years ago that they're mindlessly addicted to; far and away the most GEEWUN thing about the movie. For TF07, 11 years earlier had been season 1 of Beast Wars - how much of that had stuck around in the meantime?

First film ever I want to see again. I usually wait for the DVD, but this deserves more custom.

Yeah and why did Bumblebee do nothing to stop Blitzwing from ripping out his vocal processor? It's because the plot says so.

Honestly. He really could’ve used his arm cannon and shoot Blitzwing in the face and escape.
