Im watching Spiderman and his Amazing Friends and its hilarious how they have the same background music at times as Transformers and GI Joe. Also hearing Bumblebee as Spiderman and Fred Jones as Iceman also entertaining.

The show obviously dated but has a certain charm.

Same company did all the shows, they also did hulk and dungeons and dragons you'll hear the music in any show they produced in the 80's.

Oh boy, this brings back the memories. I'm not old enough to have watched these shows (Dungeons and Dragons is the only other one I remember, of the ones Tekkaman Blade also listed) when they were originally on television, but I remember catching them late on weekends on Toon Disney. (Or some channel like that, but I'm pretty sure that was it.) I always looked forward to those weekends. :D

Yep, a lot of stock music and common voice actors. If you listen closely I bet you'll hear a lot of sounds from star wars too.

Always fun on those old shows when characters need to rock out and it's the same stock rock song across all the shows. Ha ha, and with budget limits some of the stuff they called dancing :)

Sometimes it feels strange watching modern cartoons where a voice actor only does one voice on one cartoon.

Yeah, that was a great cartoon. That was probably my main exposure to Spider-Man, when I was a kid.

It also introduced us to Firestar (whom totally does NOT look like Mary Jane Watson in her civilian identity LOL)

And was my first exposure to anything X-Men with Iceman. I hated how he only appeared in ONE episode of the 90s X-Men cartoon he was made so dead serious in that episode, where here he was a main character and a jokester like his comic counterpart could be.

Speaking of X-Men on Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, they were the first to give us an Australian Wolverine... many years before Hugh Jackman came along.

Dinoriders was another and I think they were the ones who did Robocop the cartoon. Also don't forget the failed X-men pilot they ran from time to time as filler.

One of the better animated X-men cartoons though.

Fun to watch after you've played the old arcade game.

The Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends episodes with the X-Men actually got released on DVD around the time when X-men was out in theaters. I have it around here somewhere

It was my first ever Spider-Man cartoon, it was very campy and adventurous and made for a good prelude to the more serious 1990s show.

It's a bit sad and ironic that we've had one Iceman and two Spider-Men in live-action, but we haven't gotten a live-action Firestar yet.

Sadly, this will never happen. Luv Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends though. I can remember waking up on saturday morning, watching this show on channel 2 & lovin' every minute of it. Eventually it was cancelled & i remember thinking... i would absolutely hate whatever toon they replaced it with... to my surprise, i ended up lovin' the new cartoon more... it was called the Transformers lol.

Oh, ... and Pryde Of The X-Men (the tv pilot) & X-Men The Arcade Game was the SHIT!!!

I love that old show. It's dated but it has a certain vibe to it. The single Spiderman toon that came out shorty before is great too. Sadly Disney has not released either on DVD in the states.

What can I say about Spiderman and his amazing friends?

It was a staple in the awesome cartoons of the 80's. Not my first exposure to Spiderman, that came from the 70's live action show. Though until the movies started coming out, to me SAHAF was how I thought of Spiderman.

When I finally got a region free DVD player.... SAHAF was the first series I bought.

My favorite episode was origin story for Ice-man..... not for him, but VIDEO MAN. I freaken loved that character as a kid.

And, Pryde of the X-men was the best thing to come from Sunbow (after Call of the Primatives).

I didn't know "Sunbow" had made an X-Men cartoon I though the Guest staring of the X-Men was just for giggles They did have a fair few guest stars on that show.

The one I like is the one with PacMan and Asteroids coming to life.

There's a reason for this. The arcade game was loosely based on this pilot.

Why not? Who owns the rights to the character?
