"Chris Bachalo did that showed a new Spidey costume with <CLASSIFIED>. I thought that was brilliant, especially since it echoed one of Spidey's greatest villains"
So maybe it has like... doc oct arms?
Don't forget that's just a rough drawing. It'll look alot cleaner in the comics.
Dude. I think you figured it out!!!
If you've read the latest part of "Spider-Man: The Other," remember that the spider-god-thing tells Peter that he needs to "embrace the other, the spider?" And, in the solicits, it says that Stark designs for Peter a new costume in regards to the events of "The Other?" Some have speculated that the costume would have a bionic eye, or be able to use the stingers easily, but I think the costume letting Spider-Man have 8 arms makes MUCH more sense if it really does take into consideration the primary message of "The Other."
As far as the Civil War goes, we know as much as (a) the name, and (b) the leaders maybe (check Marvel.com's comics for the last week of March, and check out the cover to "Illuminati," which features Xavier, Namor, Stark, Reed Richards, Dr. Strange, and the Inhumans leader).
Where is my bucket ?!?
There is certainly an underlying conservatism in long-time comic readers when it comes to the look of favourites like Superman, Batman etc. However, these people usually ignore the fact that the costumes have changed radically over time. The only resemblance early Superman has to his modern age counterpart is the colours of the costume. The S symbol, the boots, the length of the cape, the silly underpants etc have all changed. Ditto with Batman.
I suspect these changes happened gradually rather than all at once, so people don't notice it quite as much.
damn....they screwed up Venom's new look and now Spidey's...WTF Marvel
It looks like a POS Tarantula suit
If they made it Black and White...maybe then it would look decent
i dont think yellow belongs on his costume.
you know, its not that bad, i just think its the sketch that is throwing people off. im sure itll look better once we see it in the comic. atleast i hope it does.
1. They pretty much said it's not permanent
2. That's just a quick sketch, and the final version will look a lot better.
Having said that, there's a lot about it that I like, the yellow is still throwing me off though.
Not a fan of it myself, both the Black and Ben Reily costumes were designed much better imo. Personally I think Superman would look better with conners now abonned red and blue one piece costume.
And it wasa hoodie with black sharpie!
I think he means when Peter retired and Ben took over as Spider-Man.
And I concur; THAT was an update to the costume done right. But, as everyone (myself included) has already said, "Iron Spidey" will probably disappear for the most part once the Civil War is over (I'm betting Peter decides to stop helping Tony, and Tony negatorpacks his ass).
There's a better image over at Newsarama in this week's Joe Fridays column.
No. And I pray that those spider legs aren't coming out of his back... *ugh*
Nice one Marvel, reel me back in, then cast me out again within the year! GREAT JOB!
By better I meant a more refined drawing instead of the rough sketch from before.
Well, I guess we all know for certain now which villian the new costume was designed after. Makes sense after "The Other," doesn't it?
Anyway, it's *drawn* nicely...but I really hope it's gone after the Civil War. Reminds me of one of the Slingers or something.
Actually it's exactly the same as the third Spiderwoman. That Mattie girl that posed as Spiderman when they did the Byrne relaunch of the Amazing and Peter parker titles. She had spider legs sticking out from her back.
