Usually when people start threads about film series that are over, they start them by offering something to discuss. That being said, the first two were great when they came out, but I feel -that like X-Men- they haven't aged well since then. The third film is an abomination, but like Batman & Robin, it's grown into an entertaining film for that fact alone. Though the train scene from SM2 is one of the best comic book scene of all time.
#2 is one of the best CBMs of all time. #3's...not good, but still better than TASM2. Had some out of place scenes and rushed at places, but at least its Peter Parker wasn't a d-bag or completely undermine its own dramatic purpose for existing.
The first two are pretty damn good superhero movies. The third one is one of the best comedy movies I've ever seen.
I like them all. Even 3. I cry like a fucking baby every time I see James Franco die with his friends around him.
the thing a bout Spiderman 3 was Tobey Maguire crying......I mean the audience in the theater literally laughed out loud. Other issue I had is they made Mary Jane a total and complete slut, because is: #1 she loves Spiderman she loves Peter back and forth (because she doesn't know the secret identity yet) I think Flash was in there somewhere too #2 she loves some AStronaut guy and I think Harry was in there too or was that 3 #3 she flirts with Harry but loves Peter it's ridiculous and the whole her becoming a Braodway star and sucking and when she walks out of the theater after being fired thinking people are applauding her? Uh why? They aren't even facing you, you didn't just finish a performance, GET OVER YOURSELF! Ya know what! Here's my new addiction cinema sins they've done a bunch of movies but I love the Spiderman 3 one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrDwtLl1p0A
Good movies, but mostly overrated. Didn't help that Maguire was a horrible choice for Parker. Dunst wasn't much of a better choice for MJ either. JJJ was the best, and most memorable, part of the trilogy. So much so that I would have loved to see him in at least one of the Amazing Spider-Man movies.
Honestly I like all the Spider-Man movies. Yes Both Raimi and Amazing. Both have a lot of great qualities but also a lot of issues but I will admit I love the tone of the Sam Raimi films, they really feel like comic books come to life. Oh and the castings of Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, Thomas Haden Church as Sandman, James Franco as Harry and JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.
The MJ scene that annoyed me most is the part when she is complaining about a bad review of her performance. Peter was only trying to make her feel better with a Spider-man analogy, and she says "This isn't about you." He never said it was! It is called a comparison, so just listen to what he has to say so you can get through it and improve.
LOL, that wasn't the point the though. She just wanted him to listen to her complain. Instead he starts talking about himself and his intentions were good, it's a common mistake that men make with their girlfriends. We think we're helping, but to them, we are still talking about ourselves. Added to the fact that it's also a comparison regarding what is the best day of his super-hero life, I can see why she was pissed. And the Mary Jane being a slut by the MTME is so dumb, and coming from a woman. SMH.
The emo dance was awesome, I was so annoyed at how much hate it got when the movie first came out. I think the 1st one was one of the better origin CBM's ever. Spidey 2 is my favorite solo CBM ever. The third one has its flaws, but I think it was critisized a lot harsher because the first two were so good. I hope the person that was slut-shaming MJ wasn't being serious.
I love Raimi's take on Spider-Man. Me and my daughter watch Spider-Man quite often and unfortunately Spider-Man 3 is her favorite because of the black suited Spider-Man. I despise that film. It's so bad. Spider-Man is showing its age, but it's still a good film. Spider-Man 2 is the best film we've gotten for the character.
Number 1 is actually a hell lot cheesier than I remember it from back then. Number 2 is still among my favorite movies ever. Number 3 is absolute trash with very small hints of an earlier, better version shining through that got wrecked. HOW DARE MJ develop feelings for more than one person in her life, how dare she! She should stick to her man, even if they're not even together and he outright rejects her in movie 1! And then acts like a complete douche to her in movie 3! Women's emancipation has come a long way, I guess, if a character get labeled a 'slut' by somebody of the same gender - simply for having completely understandable emotions and reactions in what is quite a complex relationship.
Let's also not forget on how Peter, in his Spider-Man guise, convinces Gwen to kiss him and right in of MJ's face no less on which he didn't seem to show any regret about it afterwards and this is even before the whole alien costume fiasco. Funny how the general audiences never gave him any crap for that. As for the slut-shaming, it's completely stupid and I have to chalk it up that there are basically plenty of women out there that just don't like women for one total BS reason or another with MTME probably being among them. Oh yeah, and I am speaking this as a young woman myself.
