...And why it will absolutely fail.

And Simon Pegg on the issue:

    http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/03/02/simon-pegg-on-the-american-remake-of-spaced/

Pegg and Wright are two of my favourite actors because they turn almost every role they have into pure comedy gold (can't wait to see Peg as Scottie in the new Star Trek), and this is IMO, the worst slap in the face that you could have given them. Didn't watch the show, but the bits and pieces I saw were awesome. To treat it like this, just goes to show how arrogant and uninspired TV production companies can be.

Fucking pathetic. I won't watch this out of general principle because I am a huge Simon Pegg fan. Not to mention that nearly every Americanised version of a British comedy show has been utterly horrid.
Spaced is one of the best comedies ever made, and this is a colossal insult to the people who gave us it.
    Fuck you, Granada/ Wonderland/Warner Bros.

Wow, that's pretty craptastic. I'm a big fan of Pegg's work, especially Spaced*points at avatar* This is pretty ridiculous as far as not including Simon, Edgar or Jessica in the series or even acknowledging them. If this does come to fruition, I highly doubt I'll have interest watching it based on principle. At least with the American take on The Office, while not everyone's cup of tea, at least they make the point to acknowledge Richard Gervais in the credits, as I believe he is a Executive Producer on the show.

Yeah an American release of the original series would be cool. So far I had to import the series and can only play it on my Xbox360. Which works for me to get my Spaced fix.

I guess some bigwigs in a studio didn't bother to notice that us americans paid to go see hot fuzz and shawn of the dead in the movie theater because Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are entertaining. Oh well.

    Dear America TV Execs,
    Re: Remakes

Do we need to remind you of Red Dwarf and Faulty Towers?

    Love,
    UK Comedy

And for those wishing a slice of fried gold try the original (and probably vastly superior) from one of these places that will ship across that big pond:
    Amazon.co.uk
    Play.com
    Amazon.com

Hell Amazon.co.uk also have it complete with the Box Set of Black Books which is another excellent series.

Well then, if they're not going to involve the creators/reason for teh funny, or give them any sort of compensation, then I have no problem a) not watching it and b) hoping it dies a horrible profitless death.

    Good day sirs.

    And seriously..Debra Messing? 's'wrong wit'choo?

    Me to.

The Office, Sanford & Son, Threes Company and All in the Family where British shows that made it so who knows, maybe it will work out maybe not.

And it’s not like American shows going the other way don’t have just as many misses, hello That 70’s Show.

That's pretty shitty of Fox to do that to Simon, Nick and Edgar. I sure as hell won't watch it. I do take solace that it's on Fox. It'll be cancelled after two episodes anyway.

    Oh for fucks sake.

Spaced is pure comedy genius precisely because of the talent involved.

Rather bizarrely, I feel oddly ashamed as I used to work for Granada. At the same time I'm personally annoyed because I was the sound recordist for this series with Nick Frost (which I'm inordinately proud of!):

Simon and Nick are two of the nicest, funniest chaps ever.

    They deserve more respect.

"Gosh. A plague of living corpses; it's laughable!":)

The one who's going to take Simon Pegg's place:

Not my first choice to play the geeky-video gamer Tim. I wonder how similar to the original characters the new series is going to be. I'd also be apprehensive as to who is going to be cast as Brian. Really, when it comes down to it, I know this show is going to disappoint me and not even hold a spark of light to the original.
