    Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share another model I recently completed. This time around we have "Space Monkey," a homage to a pesky little aquatic-primate that could possibly be the most ancient and arguably most intelligent being in all the cosmos. After all, who else could have created Unicron!!

I hope you like the model. Questions and comments are always welcome. And please visit my facebook page at:Tecrom Designs | Facebook Thanks for stopping by.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but brushing on a coat or two of super glue helps to saturate the colors a bit on the sandstone prints. I don't know if nail polish or some other clear coat would have the same - I opt for the super glue, because the sandstone prints get a dunk in cyanoacrylate at the end of production anywho.

That and a bit of panel lining with a fine-tipped pen would really bring out the detail in this neat little figure. *thumbs up*

Brilliant! Now you need to Do the bigger Ape-like creature from that ep, and I would be so down for both!

Thanks bro. Shapeways told me that to make the colors pop, I should use clear matte acrylic paint. However, I really wanted to show off the "untreated" full colored sandstone print before I do so. But you peaked my interest, what models did you have printed in this material?

    Thank you much!!

    Totally appreciate the compliment bro!!

    Glad you like him.

Yeah, I saw that, but man, that Ape creature was the size of a Predacon. That's a lot of print material. But I have to admit, it would be a fun sculpt. Maybe somewhere down the road....

But in the meantime, Space Monkey is available. ;-)

This is really cool! And I see you did Slizardo too! I've been saying that someone needs to put together a organic giftset box or something. Any plans on doing other characters? Not just G1, but also the 2 proto-humans from BW and stuff like that?

Wow, I've heard that several times now-that folks like the model but not the character he's based. I guess I did my job if that's the case. ;-)

Thanks man!! I'm glad you like him.

I have a few more things lined up. But always willing to hear ideas!!

Never thought I would live to see the day where someone should any kind of love for Primacron. Well done. Call of the Primitives had to be one of the better animated episodes of season 3, if not the best.

Thanks bro. I really wanted to do a fun sculpt. To be honest, I was kind of getting burnt out on the robotic stuff.

Totally agree with you about the episode. Sunbow brought their "A" game on this one. Went back and looked at the episode and the animation was on par with the movie. Colors were vibrant, characters looked great and no wonky transformation sequences. This particular episode, along with "Almost Human" and "The Burden Hardest to Bear" are my top three of the the original series.

A million thanks!! I totally had a blast on the build. And I'm glad to hear he'll find a home in your collection!! And yes, it has to be one of the most memorable episodes, if not for the crazy cast of characters alone.

I just got my order in for Primacron, Slizardo and all three humans. Beautiful model and the full color sandstone brings out so many details! I will paint up the humans later. Got those in FUD. Is there a place outside of facebook to discuss your models?

Glad you like them and what a coincidence 'cause the Marvel Legends scale set of the three humans I ordered for my bud just arrived today too. I'll start a thread tomorrow for them. And I have to say, they also turned out real nice in Full Color Sandstone, especially in that scale. Yup, the Space Monkey and Komodo models did have quite a bit of detail added Before I gave my copies of those two away at Botcon to some fans, I do remember being rather impressed by how cool they looked in full color. BTW a Shapeways rep told me acrylic matte clear paint can be applied to the colored prints. Apparently it'll protect them from scratches will make the colors pop a bit more. I haven't tried it though. But dude, yeah, you get the human mini-figures painted, definitelypost pics.

With regards to voting, unfortunately I only have the Tecrom Designs Facebook page for now. I'm taking two polls there-one giving fans the option of choosing from an 80's cartoons and the second will to decide what character they want me to model from show. BTW if you want to help me decide what characters to include for each show, if selected, I've started a thread here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-fan-art/994456-tecrom-designs-3d-modeler-help-me-choose-my-next-character.html Finally, since I'll be offering the completed model on shapeways later, I let everyone know the full figure organic build will be a re-imagine of the character.

If you like, since you don't use Facebook, I can cast a vote in your stead. Just click on the link above to see the options. Thanks again!!

Man. I may have to get one of these. I'm not very good at painting but that's always been one of my favorite episodes. "Me Grimlock here to SAVE UNIVERSE!" "Grimlock laugh at little wimp who make big trouble."

    Hi JasonPrime,

You don't need to paint the model if you order the Space Monkey in Full Color Sandstone it comes fully colored.

And yup, that's definitely one of the best episodes.

My 3.75 inch Primacron is on it's way!

Any tips/brand suggestions on a matte acrylic paint for this guy?
