Soundwave is one of the most memorable characters from my childhood and I would love to have the new MP-13 Soundwave. But $200 for even a masterpiece figure seems a little steep...

So, in your opinion... is it worth it?

$200 is a real tough call. At that price I would try to shop around. My pre-order is in at $159, but I think $169 would have probably been my cap, though my "need" for it may have even gotten the best of me at $200. It looks like it is going to be a pretty cool figure.

Its worth it if you have the available funds. I do not so I'll be waiting because I cannot justify the purchase at the moment. So if funds are tight I suggest waiting it out.

Wait for a phantom release that may or may not happen in at least a years time? If not more? Be my guest.....I for one will enjoy seeing Masterpiece Soundwave stood on my shelf with his minions as soon as I possibly can.

However, if you don't have the money then no toy is worth it.

I commend anyone who actually has the patience and sheer will to wait for MP Soundwave. No way I could.

Don't sleep on this! The price will only continue to rise. I placed my pre-order when it first became available for $161 (collector's grade from BBTS) and had every intention of buying a second later on down the road. Now the price is $40 more expensive and the figure still hasn't even been released yet! If that's not enough to catapult you into action, nibble on this...this figure, like MP-11 Starscream, WILL sell out. I'm sure of it. I wouldn't leave yourself susceptible to chance. If you love Soundwave and want this preeminent version of him, suck it up. $200 now, although not fantastic by any stretch, is far better than the prices he'll fetch on the secondary market.

I plan on removing Laserbeak and selling Soundwave by himself for about $200 on eBay.

Because someone's really going to pay above retail for a figure that's been opened and had a major component taken out. Don't be a stinge and attempt to rip people off.

I'll wait for the US release. Did that for MP Grimlock and bought it for $60 from TRU, so the waiting paid off. I do really want MP Soundwave, but I'm patient enough to wait.

As cool as it is, as much as I want it....No, no he isn't. But others will undoubtedly think otherwise.

In my honest opinion? No, it is not. Wait and get the inevitable Hasbro version. Yeah, the earliest we'll see him is late next year, but the wait will be worth it. I'm waiting for a Hasbro release of Sideswipe, who I don't honestly expect to see him till 2014, and that's assuming Hasbro is able to get the licensing to release the mold here.

I pre-ordered them from BBTS just to be safe. I have a feeling they'll increase up to $80 if not more.

Agreed. It seems the Cons are really great sellers (MP-11 is sold out most everywhere even if he's "just" a retool of the original MP-03 mold, and expensive retool at that). The Bots I think Takara will make more of simply because they still seem to adhere to the old logic that heroic characters sell better than villain characters. As much as the price sucks ($200 is very steep for what we're getting, but then the yen-to-dollar exchange rate sucks and retailer mark ups are what they are), it's still a question mark whether or not Hasbro will bring Soundwave to the States. He's a popular character, sure, but his antiquated alt mode may be a turn-off to their higher-up/decision-making suits from a business perspective.
