On another post I make I was thinking about bots being limited to a core-alt-mode that they can't change. This core alt mode I don't think cares about size and scale when being made.
One of the most interesting things to me in Transformers is the wild scale size and scale of all the different bots.

-We have small bot who turn into cars and large bot who turn into trucks...or just large cars in bots like Roadbusters' case.
-Targetmasters who turn in guns and Shockwave, Sixshot and QuickSwitch who turn into large guns. Megatron covering both large and small. ;P
-Some bot who turn into small bugs like the Insecticons and some who turn into giant bugs like Scorponok.
-Reflector and Perceptor both turn into viewing devices, just two different sizes.

What's the difference between Metroplex and Soundwave? Both can hold bots inside them. Presumably it's a better living space than just being in a transport? As far as we can see from the comics and show it's their home?

I think Soundwave and Blaster are "city bots", just not scaled to the size for normal Cybertronians.
And maybe city bot is too far? Maybe whatever you classify Omega Supreme as, but to Rumble's and Ravages scale.

What do you guys thing? You think the cassette-bots live in the chest of these bots? you think it's just a transport? Different size 'cities' for different sized bots?

No, inside Soundwave is a casino. Blaster has a strip club inside him.

    Prove me wrong.

Blaster and Soundwave are way, way, way to small to be city-bots even for cassette minions. Metroplex is orders of magnitude bigger compared to a regular-sized Cybertronian, while Cassette-bots are human-sized compared to regular Cybertronians; it's not that big of a difference.

So no, Blaster and Soundwave are really only modified to transport their minions and playback data stored on them, while their minions are modified to remotely record data for playback. They don't provide any of the functions that a City would, like proper lodging, defense systems, et cetera.

The idea of Soundwave and Blaster as homes/bases for their bots adds to their appear and coolness, but that's just part of them. They do most of their job - communications/espionage - on their own, and use their minions as part of their job only for situations where they can't do it alone, which to be fair is quite often.

Soundwave never gambles. He's more likely to be a surveillance van with monitors and cubicles with people inside looking at monitors.

I think you've got something with Blaster though. Though he's more likely to be a disco/dance hall.

Unless of course, Soundwave and his minions are the ones running the casino. Not actually doing the gambling. They're like two rivaling Robot Mafias.

I strongly dislike it when my transformers are mis-scaled to each other. Like Megatron and Soundwave are meant to be roughly the same height with Megatron being slightly taller so I just skipped over that titans return Soundwave since I didn't want him stood next to a Megatron figure that only comes up to his mid section

No no, I'm talking about the universe inside him. Not just the one outside.

I don't know what goes on in the comics, but I'm pretty sure in the cartoon the cassettes just sit inside Soundwave in cassette mode, perhaps entering stasis, or just quietly listening for threats. I don't think they were supposed to be running around in robot mode inside Soundwave like he's a city bot.

preceptor was supposed to be a table top microscope......Sure it’s bigger than a Camera but not by a hell of a whole lot
Pretty much this, I think they’re trapped in their cassette modes while inside. But I think their minds are active

The same difference between a suitcase and department store even though both technically hold clothes.

Soundwave and Blaster are still too small. @SPLIT LIP has a really good analogy here:

That "base" mode is about as convincing as his "tower" mode.

True. But it's there. Here's the old thread about it.
    g1 Soundwave base mode!!??

Honestly, he's more of a station than a "city". Much the same way that a dumpster COULD be considered a "building". But you get the gist of it.
