Where do you get a black, white, and tan Soundwave?
Isn't the black one called Soundblaster; are his tech-specs different than the original blue robot?

The black one is Soundblaster (not sure about his specs), the white once is the Shattered Glass version, and the tan/gold/cheese is the Linkin Park version

I've been assembling this collection for almost a year. As much as I like the MP Soundwave, I'm a bit more partial to the G1 look and feel. I know there's at least 6 more variants I'd like to get my hands on, so the search continues...

Also, what about your KO green steeljaw? I'm looking to make a Blackcat and want to get my hands on a KO green ravage I also want to make a Playback...but that one will involve a drill press and hacksaws ;-)

Finally...any tips on doing custom paint jobs for the cassettes (online tutorials, preferred materials, etc...)?

I got all three Frumbles off of ebay. You'll see them appear from time to time, and I've actually only seen the red chested one once (it required a lot of bidding).

As for the KO green steeljaw, that one and others can be found on ebay too (not to be confused with the oversized cassettes). However, it IS slightly larger that the real thing, so it won't fit in G1 Soundwave (click on my Flickr set link for photos).

As for customizing, I just used the tips in the Radicons boards. My supplies included acrylic paints, exacto knife, fine grit sandpaper and a lot of time.

 

Awesome collection. I like that Grimlock custom and the various KOs. Well done.

Actually, I've been on a collecting hiatus for almost half a year now, and I wanted to get everything out to take a full cassette-mode-only photo. I'll probably do an actual breakdown of what I have on my flickr page, but for now, here it is - enjoy!

Love this collection. I'm just getting back into collecting TFs (by that I mean I have a Happy Carbot micro Santa Fe Ace that I slapped an Autobot emblem on and both a Tigatron flashdrive & a Transbot Beachcomber on the way) and I would love to one day have a cassette set like this. I wish I could find some of the KOs like you have mixed in here.
