First the XBOX One kinectless bundle price, Mario Kart's 8 entry into the fray help to put life on the WII U for the first time in 2 years and now Sony pulls the plug off the on their hand held. Sad news for the Vita defenders.

As we say in Puerto Rico "El aviso de una muerte ya anunciada!" (The announcement of a death already warned!")

Why is this sad news for Vita defenders? It means they're finally focusing all their handheld attention on it.

I did not even know PSPs were still being made. I thought they stopped it after the Vita came out, hence why Persona 2 EP never came to the US.

PSVita is a fine thing. If I hadn't bought a 3DS and a PS3, I would buy a PS Vita. And I'd like a Wii U, too. But I don't get why it is more expensive than my PS3 as a inferior system?

I did not know Sony was still selling new PSPs.

PSP will still have an insane userbase for years to come. That thing is the hands down BEST portable emulator you can buy. Install some custom firmware and a nice sized memory card, and a large capacity battery and you are set. Shit, load up isos of all your owned psp games and you never have to worry about a UMD breaking or getting scratched, and get faster load times.

The hacker community saved this system imo, and it is still going to have a massive lifespan beyond now because of its true capabilities that got unlocked. Even though it won't be manufactured anymore, its far far from RIP for the PSP.

Can't they then make a bundle with the other gamepad? That looks better anyway.

What "other Gamepad"? The Pro controller? The problem is Nintendo refuses to sell the Gamepad separately, and some games (looking at you 3D World) do require the Gamepad to play. They're pretty dedicated to it.

    Hm.. that's bad.. :(

I would like to have a Wii U to play some Mario on the big screen. But not for 300€

MGA was fun but the sequel is a lot better. im amazed how long the psp lasted.

This isn't hard to believe, at all. The PSP was terrible IMO.

Love the PSP. I have 2 of them so far, an original model with custom firmware and then one of the slimmer models. For jrpg fans it's probably the best system you can have because of the large selection of games, and then you add in custom firmware and the amount of games you can play is staggering.

Hopefully the Vita can get some traction over the next couple of years and at least try to live up to what the PSP did.

I thought Sony cut support a few years ago. The psp was a decent system. Got one before a ds and even if the ds hardware was worse I think it was the better portable. Most psp (and vita) games felt like watered down console experiences but, it had some great games too. My favs were metal gear solid peace walker, metal gear solid portable ops, megaman x maverick hunter x (decent remake of one of my fav snes games), megaman powered up, and gta liberty city stories.

I don't think it was a bad first attempt by Sony. It certainly fared better than all the others that tried to enter the market. It just sadly never lived up to the promise or the potential.

I have a Vita and yeah, while most of the games seem to be scaled down from console games, I don't regret the purchase for even a second. My only gripe is the low battery message that pops up. Touch screens and pop up messages don't mix.
