That's a lot of money, it maybe hard to turn down. If he agrees to take the deal than maybe there should be a larger gap in between the films as he sounded pretty adamant that he didn't want to be Bond again.

I don't know what SPECTER is...

But SPECTRE was great. It was also a perfect ending for Craig's Bond. Anything they could do with his character after SPECTRE would feel anticlimactic and a betrayal of the movie's ending. So I hope Craig turns down the money and forces Sony to start again with a new actor.

Craig's four movies make a great self-contained story with a beginning, middle and end, which is rare in this kind of franchise... Nolan's Batman trilogy being the only other example I can think of off hand. SPECTRE works so well as an ending for Craig's movies that it even helps me hate Quantum of Solace a little less.

I'd be fine with a series of Felix Leiter movies while Sony and Eon figure out what the fuck is happening (or will happen) to the 007 series.

I disagree. Spectre might not be the best Bond movie, but it was far from awful. It's only fault is not being as good as Skyfall. That's the same problem QoS had. The only terrible Bond movie is a boring one, which Spectre is not.

SPECTRE was a huge disapointment, imo. Especially with how great Skyfall was.

He should ask to see the scripts for the upcoming movies before agreeing to anything.

I agree, Skyfall was an awesome bond tale and Spectre in comparison was rather underwhelming.

But I really don't know what more they can do for Craig.

And is it so difficult to find a good replacement/successor for him?

I heard there were plans for Tom Hiddleston (Loki) to take over as Bond next.

I think Fassbender would be a better choice.

Absolutely. He channeled Sean Connery wonderfully in that scene.

Fassbender may be too obvious a choice though, along with Tom Hiddleston (High-Rise) and Henry Cavill (The Man from Uncle). Bond may probably need to be someone not too well-known so that he can work out well.

I like the Danial Craig version of Bond, but anything after Skyfall is going to feel like a let down so I think it's time for another actor and change of direction.

I never got into the whole hair color uproar and I'm okay with changing Bond's race because Bond needs to be in the modern world where things are different than the Connery days. Heck if it wasn't for the name James I'd be find with them gender bending the role and having Hayley Atwell play Bond.

I can see where Sony needs hits but forcing Danial Craig into the role if he doesn't want to do it would not make for the sort of box office haul Sony wants.

Looking at the box office numbers it's not hard to see why.

Skyfall was the last time a Sony box office had $304 million domestically and a world wide total over one billion. The best Sony had in 2013 was $150 million with American Hustle. 2014 was The Amazing Spider Man 2 with a $202 million domestic run and world wide run of $708 million. 2015 was Spectre with $200 million domestic and $880 million world wide. This years best so far has been Ghostbusters domestically with $126 million but Angry Birds made more world wide with $347 million.

With Ghostbusters not working for Sony and the studio still waiting to see if ticket buyers will forgive them with Spiderman it's not hard to see why they want Bond to work without having to risk if people would like a new actor in the role.

Honestly, I liked Spectre more than Casino Royale. It still wasn't as good as Skyfall in my opinion though.

This IS Sony, after all. They're not doing very well financially, and PlayStation's the only product that actually sells well these days.

As far as for Sony asking Craig to reprise his role as Bond, he should tell them to hit the road. The guy definitely sounded like he was done with James Bond.
