Meh. I'm old. I recall very terrible subtitled anime back when it was "Japanamation". Hell, it's still going on today, thanks to horrid fansubs. Bump the Chicken is par for the course.

My favorite were the super goofy Hong Kong bootleg subs where Chinese translators attempted to turn Japanese into English and Giant Robo's rocket punch turned into "FIST HIM GIANT ROBO."

Because that’s not how Toy Manufacturing works. It’s very redundant for every single store to send Bumblebee back, take him out of the package,Repaint him, and resell him. Waste of materials. Plus, Legends Bee has CLEAR PLASTIC and this one has BLUE PLASTIC for the windows, so if these really are repaints, they had to disassemble all of them too!

 

Plus the process would be rather tedious. There's a reason why redecoes are made fresh from the same set molds using new plastics, mostly different colored.

 

Whatever man, it's a legend class redundant Bumblebee figure that's now Blue, selling for double the price at the very fucking least. The fact that i don't care about the manufacturing process enough to justify this doesn't change the fact that it's bullshit.

In this case, the story I've heard wasn't due to translator error, but just due to the band's poor grasp of English at the time.

"Bump" = push
"Chicken" = coward

So, to them, it sounded something like "the coward fights back". They liked that idea and it stuck. Sounds funny to native English speakers, but band names are often pretty nonsensical anyways.

So this is an existing mold, right? Retail at this point is about 5$. Do you feel that a Blue version of the mold justifies a 40$ price tag?

 

I think half of you guys are missing the point of this. It wasnt to push out a Blue Bumblebee repaint for the American audience. It was specifically made to target Chicken Bumping fans with a unique collab, not for Transformer fans.

It would have been great to buy this for $50-60 shipped to US. For $120+, there are much better TF options.

 

I managed to get one for around$75 off of Yahoo Japan.

Hopefully the prices come back down when it goes online at the official shop.
