I like the chain mace thing. I ended up splitting mine into 2 different weapons.

Awesome! Really looks better than that dumb mace it was.

 

It's actually cut into two parts, the bottom of the handle, and the piece that the chain attaches to.

 

is there something in the middle that is attaching the two halves?

 

Nope, simply friction of the hands. I could theoretically use them as individual weapons.
