As we all know, in the episode "Megatron's Master Plan" The Decepticons trick the people of Earth that the Autobots are evil, and Earth exiles them. Then the Con's take over. Among the enslaved humans are the Witwickys and Chase. While I know they could not do this because it is a cartoon for kids, but, in universe, why didn't they execute any known human allies of the Autobots? You would think that after taking over the planet, the first thing Megatron would want to do is reduce any change of resistance, which would include removing anyone who worked with the Autobots.

    You answered your own question.

Also, not killing the kids in that episode is no different than them not killing the kids in other episodes when they had the chance... or or anyone else for that matter. Because: kids show.

I know that, but I'm wondering if anyone ever came up with an in-universe reason.

I like how out of all the holes in Megatrons master plan... him not killing a few humans is what bugs you.

    Consider the following:

The Decepticons were trying to convince the people of Earth that the Autobots were evil.
In order to do that, the 'Cons also had to make it look like they themselves were NOT evil.
Killing kids is an evil thing to do.
So, in order to support the charade, they couldn't kill the kids.

Make sense? Admittedly, it's been a long time since I watched that episode...

The whole episode bugs me, but it makes no sense from the Decepticon POV to let any trouble makers live. It's like Tarkin not having Leia executed as soon as Alderan was destroyed. It'll come back to night them on the ass, which it did.

After they drop the charade and took over the whole planet I don't think anybody thought they would have good guys anymore.

My biggest issue with these episodes has always been the timing. They occur over at MOST a one-week period (but probably just FOUR DAYS). I'll repost this from another thread:

    DAY 1:
    Solar plant opens.
Megatron tricks Shawn Berger (at sunset).

    DAY 2:
Shawn Berger films "Autobots" stealing energy.
    Autobot parade.
    Autobots arrested.

(Potentially DAY 3, though there's nothing to suggest it.)
    Autobot trial.
    Spike finds truth, fights Ravage.
Autobot conviction and exile (in a spaceship Shawn Berger just happened to have lying around?)
    Megatron reprograms Teletraan-1 (night).

DAY 3 (or maybe DAY 4):
    Decepticon parade.
Spike... continues to fight Ravage. Hmm...
    Decepticon par-tay.

(Potentially DAY 5, but again, there's nothing to suggest we aren't still in DAY 3)
Autobot ship goes into the sun (less than two days after launch? Shouldn't it have taken months to travel that distance?).
    Decepticons reveal truth.

(Potentially DAY 6, or maybe still DAY 3):
Human slaves make energy, Chip Chase escapes (night).
    Thrust destroys Teletraan-1.
    Autobots head back to Earth.

DAY 4 (or at most DAY 7):
    Humans attack Decepticons.
    Autobots return.
Autobots free humans and head home (sunset).

The events of this story should have taken months to transpire, never mind the idea that in 1985, a wealthy businessman owned a spaceship big enough to accommodate over two dozen Transformers.

    All good points.
I personally think more time passed. I'd say the trial took a few days at least, just shortened for the viewers sake. I also think that the trip to the sun took a few days too, since Berger, Inc built the ship, and I highly doubt that it had anything close to a FTL drive.

Since you haven't seen the episode in a long time it's a nice try but it doesn't fit the circumstances of the story

The point in question is why the kids weren't killed when the Charada was dropped and the cons go back to acting like the bad guys they are

    Why kill perfectly good slaves

Maybe the humans all pretty much look alike to them.

Or they underestimate the man-animals, like other alien conquerers

I think that's probably the best explanation. The Decepticons never had a good opinion of humans. It's likely that without the Autobots and Teletran 1, Megatron honestly didn't think the Witwickys and Chip were capable of being a threat. I'm betting Berger's actions didn't help their opinion either.

Well, you ARE assuming everything from the parade to the reveal happens within one day, but there's actually nothing that indicates that one way or the other. It might all still be Day 3... but then, it might also be days or weeks later, the Cons having kept the charade up for a while, and Spike having not been able to get an audience with the mayor immediately after finding the tape.

(There were multiple deleted scenes in that part of the episode, including Starscream going on a late-night talk show, so at least one day was supposed to pass...)

There was one question that bugged me about this episode too - and I nearly posted to ask for help and had it all typed out but then (upon watching it one more time before clicking post) realised the answer.

When Shaun Berger charges Ravage and Laserbeak to help Spike, since 1985 I've always thought he shouts "Peter Parker Lives!" and that it was some sort of Marvel thing. I now know he actually shouts "The apocalypse!" but after so many years I think I'll always hear what I originally heard as a kid.

It will be my battle cry if I ever have to do anything heroic.

I hope [email protected] has the audio from that. I'd love to hear it.

"Peter Parker Lives!" Is the new "Leroy Jenkins!"

As mentioned above, it was G1 and geared to kids.

But here is my thought on the matter: If the Decepticons could make people turn on each other, then they could be sure their collaborators will keep down any resistance since they're the ones who will lose if the Decepticons lose.

DOTM, which was a live-action version of Megatron's Master Plan, demonstrated this. Dylan was working with the Decepticons so that he could stay alive, but after the Chicago massacre took place he went full villain, telling Decepticons to kill people and reactivating the bridge himself. He didn't like working working with them since they kill their human agents, but if they lose then he's got no future left; as a collaborator he would be executed, and even if he wasn't the status their money gave him would be lost.

Megatron's Master Plan is all over the place with problems, in this day and age of Cinematic Universes we probably would have gotten a five-part mini-epic with G.I.Joe and Cobra teaming up to help thwart the Decepticons after they managed to get their Autobot enemies off planet, all being covered by Hector Ramirez of course. And then we'd probably have a huge concert at the end so Jem and the Holograms could perform a rousing number to prove that not all humans are as evil as Mister Berger while the Inhumanoids cast or even MASK got a brief cameo.

But back in 1985 all we got was a slip shod two-parter with plot holes a mile wide. For one thing HOW COULD ANYBODY believe Megatron when the Decepticons had been operating for over a year, stealing energy, destroying property, threatening lives and AFTER THEY FUCKING PULLED AN ENTIRE ALIEN PLANET INTO EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE DEVASTATING THE NATURAL BALANCE OF THE EARTH! Seriously the episode should have been an early season one adventure, before The Ultimate Doom.

They were too busy doing Johnny Carson style TV chat shows and opening malls/supermarkets. I kid you not, I have a copy of the original script for this episode and those scenes were originally in there!

    All the best

I've heard that one scene had Starscream on The Tonight Show or something. I really hope the audio was recorded, and that [email protected] moon posts at some point.
