ok, s0 i just watched "out of the past" again and noticed something about shockwave. his wings and other parts of of his body, as well as the WFC and FOC games show that he transforms into a jet.

YET, when his foot slams down in the center of the frame and we see it from behind when he first appears in the episode, there is visibly a large wheel in his heel/caph. so what does this mean, is it just an inconsistancy in his design or could he possibly be a triple changer, eeeeeh.

just thought it was note worthy

 

If so thats nice. I like how Shockwave isone of those type of characters that you can't tell what he transforms into.

 

At best, you're probably getting a Prime version of DOTM's tank mode.

Maybe he's not even a jet at all. In show, nothing suggests that he is. I couldn't make out wings, just spikeys and points and stuff.

 

If you can call it a jet.   I tend to refer to it as the "floating bathtub/limousine/skateboard/battleship/thing".

This is going under the assumption that the designs or alternate modes in WFC/FOC have any bearing on the design and alternate mode decisions in TFP.

Shockwave doesn't have to be a "jet" in TFP just because he was one in WFC/FOC. Arcee was a pink and white car and we all see how that transitioned over.

Slightly more on-topic, I'm going with a tank alternate mode for TFP Shockwave. The treads and giant arm cannon (aka, tank turret) make a tank or tank-like vehicle an obvious choice. He might be a triple changer, but it wouldn't be because he was a jet-thing in WFC/FOC.

i don't know how this is exactly BIG but i guess it's interesting.

 

I saw that the first time I saw the episode. My guess is that he used to be a jet like in FOC but due to the beating Grimlock gave him Shockwave decided to modify his body to be bigger and to have an tank alt mode instead. That also explains his left cannon arm since we saw Grimlock tearing his original one off.

 

Not too sure on his alt mode since he could be one of those characters with just a Cybertronian mode and thus would have to follow human rules for vehicles. But I'm thinking it's a safe bet at this point that he's not a triple changer.

While the design team has made some amazing advancements to the toys in recent years it kind of feels like Hasbro isn't big on the triple changer concept right now.

 

I'm betting on him turning into a tank. Wings are a moot point considering Arcee. Same with whatever alt mode he had in WFC considering Soundwave and Megatron. Combine that with TFP's track record of aping alt modes that the movieverse incarnations of the characters had, and there you go.

 

Yah probably a tank, I always did prefer shockwave with a gun or jet mode however. A tank just doesnt quite fit cold logical mind

I'd like him to be a tank (that cannon would look boss as the turret), and I suppose the wing struts on his back could simply be some spiky things on the back to make it look cool.

 

I always assumed DOTM-esque tank mode because of the big friggin gun arm and the long tube attached to his back. I kinda pictured a seige tank from starcraft 2 with more cybertronian influences.
