I just can't do it. I recently rewatched it (I got a bootleg cuz I wanted to own all the US cartoons on DVD) and I made myself watch it until the end. I can't recommend this cartoon.

There are goods and bads I suppose.

    Goods:
    Scourge!
    Rail Racer
    Landfill

    Bads
    Everything else

Just watch it. It's actually okay, which is far more than I can say for any other anime TF show.

    Wow.

RID's just as good as Animated- but with better artwork. So, if you have seen EVERY other TF series, then there's no reason you shouldn't see RID.

    Most underrated TF series ever.

Things get interesting when the Decepticons show up.

But it gets more interesting with Ultra Magnus shows up.

This. and try watching the last episode of BM first. RID was a breath of clean air to me. You got to love it, it came out in the US in 2001 (remember that year?) So what is Optimus Prime? A firetruck of course. :D

except that it premiered a week before said event happened, and it was released in japan a year prior to that.

anyway, if you could watch armada, you can watch rid. if you take armada and give it better artwork, less annoying children, and realize that it doesn't take itself seriously, you'll have no problems watching it. plus, neil kaplan was a better optimus prime than gary chalk.

Convince you? Nah. If you're prepared to sit through the Armada Trilogy but won't give one of the best TF shows a chance, you don't deserve to watch it.

I'd say give RiD a shot at least watch the episode introducing the combaticons and scourge

This. I think I'd find having my toenails ripped off and needles shoved into the fleshy parts that were under said toenails more entertaining than watching RID. To each his own though. Watch an ep or two and decide for yourself.

Besides Sky Byte,Ruination & Scourge that's pretty much the only reason I watched this series

I've also never really watched RID; I've only seen a few episodes. I think some of you may have convinced me (after all I did watch all of Armada . . . how bad can RID be?). Where's the best place to find the complete series?

rid is silly, but it knows that it's silly and it thrives on it. it also brought us back to true car robots instead of vehicons or transmetal modes. it's actually a pretty pivotal series in transformers history.

RID is the only one of the Japanese TF shows I've watched more than one time.. Skybyte is a great character and needs to be brought back.. and the trend of every series having to have an " Evil Optimus Prime " and Powered up versions of characters came from this series as well.. Not to mention this series revitalized the franchise after the whimper beast machines went out with..

The US Localization (rather than simply being a re-dub like Armada, Energon and Cybertron) of RID is really good.. Neil Kaplan is still my second favorite Optimus Prime behind Peter Cullen.. Nothing wrong with Chalk but Chalk is Primal.. and always will be to me..

as a completely stand alone series (don't let anyone try and convince you otherwise) RID is great fun... but thats the best way to look at it.. RID is Transformers as a Comedy.. rather than Drama.

But never start with the one where the Predacons are trying to steal that old steam train. That was the first episode of RID I ever saw and it put me off for a long time because even the comedy bad guys should never be that dumb. So glad I went back to it near the end of the series and felt the good times it provided. Taped the whole series on the repeats and then later picked it up on DVD.

Yeah, I'll second that emotion. Some of the earliest episodes of RiD do border on the insufferable. The above example is probably the worst (well, maybe "The Ultimate Robot Warrior", it also revolves around blatant villain stupidity), made all the moreso because it's the SECOND FECKING EPISODE OUT OF ONLY HALF-A-DOZEN that involves the Predacons going after a train!
