Honestly, JEJ is getting old. I want him to reprise the role, and I was glad he did in rogue one, but I think when he reprises the role it needs to be perfect.
Precisely. I don't think he will either because I think the implication was Han never encountered Vader before ANH anyway. Bane? I'd definitely be down for that, though apparently that new unfinished Clone Wars animatic featured his death at the hands of Boba. Otherwise, Bossk and/or Dengar would of course be a treat, give some spotlight to some other bounty hunters besides Boba. I watched a recent interview with him and honestly... yeah. His normal speaking voice is very, very different now, and... how do I put this? He's not going to sound any different as Vader than he did in Rebels and Rogue One. His first couple of lines in Rogue One, he sounded like 80's Vader, but yeah, it is what it is, that's what we have now.
It would be in Disney's best interest to buy the rights to JEJ's entire filmography as a future bucket from which to splice together lines for Vader in perpetuity.
JEJ in RO was sadly disappointing. They need to find someone who can do it better and just use them from now on.
Dengar -- because he's Corellian, and I'd like to see them re-work the swoop-bike accident from the Legends story, into an in-continuity reason for Dengar to hate Han. I never really cared for the idea of Han and Boba being mortal enemies -- Boba has enough going on, but it would be interesting to give that pathos to Dengar. Dengar/Legends (I would love to see Cad Bane in live-action at some point, though)
Best part about Dengar is that if he were in the movie, they could simply use Simon Pegg to play him again. He not only voiced the character in TCW and the 2015 Battlefront game, but played Unkarr Plutt in TFA, so he's had quite a bit of presence already in this universe.
You know, realistically speaking, they do have to replace James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader eventually in case he ended up being either retired or dead. While he certainly wasn't bad in his first couple of lines in Rogue One, he still sounded rather off to me in that particular film.
Solo is good enough. Who knows, maybe Han took the word and added it to his name because it was cool.
Like what? Rogue One was named after Rogue One, so it makes sense that Solo's movie would be named after Solo, regardless of how underwhelming it is. Other than HAN or Han Solo, what else could they do with it?
Exactly, it was a minor plot element. They could do the same with the Han Solo movie. I don't know anything about it but there are probably tons of options, as long as it says "A Star Wars Story" people will still line up to watch it.
I was hoping for Scruffy-Looking Nerf Herder Begins. I suppose they could have named it for a central plot-point in the movie, like The Kessel Run: A Star Wars Story, but we don't yet know if the movie even contains that moment, or how much of the movie revolves around something like that. So, "Solo" works just fine...
Minor plot element? It was literally THE name of THE crew that the entire movie was about. Same applies here for (Han) Solo... just as it will with (Obi-Won) Kenobi and (Boba) Fett. Again, I don't think they're GOOD titles - but they unfortunately do fall in line with the "theme" they just set with Rogue One. Just glad they kept "A Star Wars Story" in there, because golly, people might not know otherwise...
