ever since we learned that a figure of movie dino/mirage was coming out, i knew that someone would eventually and inevitably repaint him with his G1 colors. i know we're gonna see it sooner or later.

i know a custom like that is gonna pop up on ebay sooner or later, so im keeping my eyes open lol

so, is anyone planning on doing it, anyone else think of this?

to be honest, and this is my own opinion so take it lightly, G1 movie repaints don't work as well for me as everyone else, i would like to see a G1 movie mirage/dino though, sounds like a neat idea

 

Yeah, I already took the wheel of his hands and made them into Mech Tech ports. Next I want to give him bigger feet...

I agree. To me, it looks like movie toys are cosplaying as G1 characters.

Also, just a bit of an aside, it always seems strange to me that custom artists think in terms of names. Such as RotF Gears who basically only shares the name with the G1 character, yet let's paint that figure in "G1" colors. The end result looks the same - a robot in a "G1" costume.

 

Yeah, they're made to stand with the wheels as the "heels," which I do for Sideways. But for Dino I want to do it differently. Right now I have his legs straight and, instead of attaching the car piece on those wheels to the leg, I have them flipped out in back to steady him up...

 

see im the opposite, i think it makes them more awesome, almost bridges the gab between the series'. i have 2007 rescue ratchet and g1 colors jazz, i just preordered the g1 colors movie wheeljack, and i some point i want to commission a repaint of voyager ironhide with more g1 colors. and you know what, with all this talk about it, i just want the mirage repaint for myself more and more lol

 

For movie Mirage, I think many are waiting for that supposed Walmart exclusive deluxe Stinger. I forsed many, many retools of Mirage out of that. With some minor tinkering that mold should be far more movie accurate than the Sideswipe repaint.
