Have we heard anything on this?

This predominately how I buy the comics, as its the nicest looking on a shelf and cheapest way to own the stories.

They used to be coming out about every 6 months. But that also implied that they would have a preorder or some kind of announcement post previous volume release. Its been quite a few months sine Volume 8 was released and I haven't heard anything. Even googled it... nothing.

Is there a chance that they may stop doing the IDW collections?

That's the big question isn't it? Perhaps IDW is going to start releasing separate RID and MTMTE Collections? Or maybe put them together one after another? If anything, they may be waiting for more issues to be released in each series before they start doing 'RID - The IDW Collection' books.

I could see them waiting to publish all the pre-Dark Cybertron RiD or MTMTE as a collection.

^ That's what I'm thinking...2 big volumes, one RID, one MTMTE, collecting the last 22 issues with the annuals and extra materials. Seems like something IDW would do. Then that would leave it open for them to release a 'Dark Cybertron' collection next.

I've been waiting for an announcement too and am hoping they continue. I love the hardcovers (for convenience and presentation). There's still a good reason to keep pumping them out as they can insert the Spotlights (at least the ones set in the present) and Annuals in something resembling a proper reading order. Chuck in the other Spotlights set in the past and bam, there you go.

Aha, I was about to go looking for that thread! Perhaps the most relevant bit is this tweet somebody got from an IDW staff member:

So it looks like the IDW Collection might continue at some point in the future, but I guess they're focusing on the "themed" hardcovers like LSOTW and Complete Drift for now.

Thanks for answering guys. I guess I can wait a little while longer. looks like they have 22 issues of both RID and MTMTE plus about 4-6 spotlights and 4 issues autocracy and monstrosity to add.
44+8+6= 58 issues behind. Hope they figure out the process soon!

The Death of Optimus, start of the ongoings, and some of the newer Spotlights are included in the first two Phase Two IDW Collection hardcovers. Vol. 1 (Optimus cover) is still available on Amazon and Vol. 2 (Bumblebee cover) just came out last week or the week before.

Looking back on when I first posted. It looks like they are now only releasing the 6 months worth of books every 9-12 months. We're now about a year further behind than then. And getting further and further each time.

Definitely NOT enjoying the slow down in the IDW collection.

That's why I'm debating to start collecting the TPBs. IDW is terrible for collections.
