el oh el... i got this off digg, and its damn funny. http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56924
Not only is it wicked old, but it WAS a joke. Following the link you posted, it becomes quite clear around page 5 or 6 (if not sooner) that it's a joke. The thread creator even started his own poll, where he asked: and Funny story, but it's hard to believe it for more than a moment or two.
I have a friend that made a working computer submerged in liquid. He used a fishtank and some kind of special mineral water or something. He didn't do it for cooling reasons, but just because he likes doing weird stuff with computers.
I have heard of that stuff. The whole computer (except drives, I suppose) can be submerged in a special liquid, and therefore cooled nicely.
Oil works. PCMagazine I believe did this with oil. They show you how to seal the case, caulk the entry spots around the Processor, Ram, etc, and then submerge it. Kept the entire system cool for extended periods of time. No. I don't have the cajones to try it myself.
Wow... Don't know what's funnier, that someone might do it, or that someone believed that it was done.
