It seems that the idiot, Michael Bay, and his obsession with getting profit margings has meant that he will only use the crappy GM cars for Transformers because the fee they pay to have their crap on screen covers a lot of the costs.
Whatever happened to putting your neck on the line and going over budget for the sake of art and making the best film possible? Why can't Transformers have Ferraris, Porsches, Volkswagens and the truly great cars? Why must we just see cars that are not internationally recognized?
It does defeat the whole feeling of walking down the street and seeing cars that you saw in the latest Transformers movie.

Bay is and will always be an imbecile.

I take it you're working on your script for TF2 and it'll be as ridiculous as your first attempt.

Whether you want to believe it or not, MB is not the evil mastermind behind the ruination of the movie franchise. He is just a small part of a very large pie. More than likely, GM's contract states that they are the sole providers of cars throughout all three movies. I know I know, it ruins your fantasy world of angst against the movieverse, but that is reality for you.

Well, like you said, GM paid them money to use their cars in the movie. When the average moviegoer walks out, if they liked a certain character, they could buy the corresponding vehicle, then GM makes money. If there were more expensive cars I'm sure that people could not afford them. Besides, ROTF already has the awesome Audi R8, Ducatis, and every high tech army vehicle imaginable.

I'm seriously tired of seeing you on the movie boards. All you do is whine, bitch, and moan.... without taking the time to search and have some facts to base your hate for the movie franchise.

As much as I liked Jazz, I don't think I would ever consider buying a Pontiac Solstice. It's just too hideous and curvy for my liking.

Anybody with some half-decent knowledge of TF trivia knows that attempts to work with VW and Porsche fell through in the early
    stages of the Alternators line.

I'm not convinced this thread is actually serious.

Yup. Conceptron did this all the way through the first movie's run as well. Then disappeared. And now, here we go again. Joooy.

Porsche and Volkswagen wouldn't give Hasbro the license for Alternators because they didn't want to be associated with 'war toys' so they'd never give it to them for the movie as that'd be even more high profile.

Look at Sideways' toy, its made to look almost but not exactly like an R8 because, Audi being owned by VW and VW being 3/4 owned by Porsche, they couldn't get the license.
Barricade being a Saleen not a Ford in movie 1 is the same.

Ferrari are very picky as to what they hand their license out to, and they take a hefty chunk of any moneys made from the license as well, so I'd imagine they would be way expensive to get for maybe one character in a film and the associated toys. Lambourghini are owned by Audi and so they'd be out too.

GM make perfectly fine cars the world over, and sell more cars than Ferrari and Porsche could dream of (or until the recent troubles at any rate).

I wouldn't say any of the vehicles picked for either side in both movies has been uncool, and if GM being heavily involved means Bay hasn't got to spend a lot of time and resources searching for alt modes then that's good for the movie; and leaves him more budget to spend on CGI, which means more robots on screen and more time for them to be there.

So a pretty savvy move on Bay's part I think, and considering TF1 had a budget of $150M, and went on to make over $700M worldwide I can say it was justified.

This thread is like the dab of peanut butter on a mousetrap. Except when you go for the bait, instead of a metal bar snapping your neck you just give the poster the attention he craves.

Because they didn't want to let "the idiot, Michael Bay" use their cars in his movie, or Hasbro in its toylines.

I hope the new script has as many human-centric moments as the first one did. And more unexplained macguffins!

Bah....don't believe any of that babble. If Spielberg was in charge, I'm sure we would be seeing Ferraris and the lot.

Oh, and I'm sorry, but I did prove my point. In THREE days, that script had a 3 act coherent story; whereas the Transformers film did not, just the most incoherent shocking pile of horse shit I have ever seen.

Three days? For months, maybe even up to a year you were talking up that script and how much better it would be. What kind of assurance is there that is was actually written in three days?

    THREE DAYS?!?!?!?!?!?

If I could be bothered I'd dig back through your posts and find the first time you asserted your boast. It was well before this because I'd personally been telling you to put your money where your mouth was for months.
    12-03-2007:

Here's where you say you'll take a mere day to produce your script.
    And then finally, on 03-10-2008:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-fan-fiction/169616-conceptrons-response.html
Now I don't know how time passes on your planet, but here on Earth that is NOT three days.
You kept us all waiting for that script for MONTHS. And when it DID emerge, it wasn't that good as an actual script. It wasn't terrible; it was readable and mostly coherent. But it did read like a fanfic. Not a movie script.
You did write one, yes; but for all we know you could have been working on it for God knows how long, and it still wasn't up to much.
