So; it isn't exactly the "Nightship". (spoilers)

Well, now that the viewings are rolling in, we can talk about some details...like Lockdown's ship, for example.

All the while, we've been referring to his ship as the NIGHTship. Turns out....it's the KNIGHTship.

Optimus mentions that Lockdown has desecrated it. It's mentioned as an ancient exploration ship, if I recall. There's a display of Knight-like swords in an orb, and some knightly statues that transform like the All Spark for some reason that I didn't see.

So, from what we can piece together, Lockdown has turned this once regal Knightship into his own menagerie/prison. The Dinobots are referred to as Knights by Optimus. So, was this The Dinobot's Knightship that Lockdown took over? Were the Dinos the original crew?

And, on a side note, if so, then why film a scene cyberforming Earth, even showing metal Dino remnants, and NOT TIE THAT INTO THE DINOBOTS?

Ahem. Sorry. Got a little ranty there.

Anyway...Knightship...not Nightship. That's the thread lol.

Don't forget that Optimus is apparently one of the Knights, too. Can't leave that important detail that doesn't make sense out.

There was a scene of the creators collecting from the cyberformed Earth. My understanding was that this was what led to the Dinobots (being created, a la Optimus)

Unless the Creators are the ones who created the Knights, which was basically what the movie was saying.

I don't get what happened with the Dinobots/DinoKnights after the battle ended. "You're free", so they just run off to the wilderness in beast mode like uncaged animals? You'd think as part of a group of esteemed explorers trapped within their own ship for who knows how long they'd try to reclaim some of what belongs to them?

Wait, so the movie was saying that the Creators only created the Knights, and not all Cybertronians? I don't remember that anywhere in the film.

This is the more interesting point to me. Like, why not tie them together? It would have been so incredibly easy, the pieces were there, it would have made perfect sense. Could have been done any number of ways, even if they just like saw pictures of the metalized fossils, or pointed out that the Dinobots resulted from the previous terraforming.

Maybe it'll be touched on in the next one...? Maybe?

"All Cybertronians" is what I got out of it as well. I immediately thought of Quintessons...

If he had access to the ship's Knightly systems, one wonders why he didn't just take the ship with him at the end. Instead of, y'know, rocketbooting it across the universe...

Not sure why you threw the "only" qualifier in there, I never suggested that. My understanding is that the Knights were created for a specific purpose - Lockdown even told Optimus he was not doing what he was supposed to.

I don't know...my impression was that Optimus was referring to them as ancient, legendary warriors, pre-dating himself. Cybertron was around LONG before the Earth would've been Cyberformed, and the Knighship and Dinos seemed to have an ancient Cybertronian history.

It would be nice to have ANY of this actually EXPLAINED IN THE FLIPPIN' MOVIE.

I suppose in your point though, it addresses Prime being made for a purpose. Maybe it isn't the metal the creators harvest as much as the cyberformed LIFEFORMS? That IS interesting.

That moment took me by surprise. Even if the ship was too damaged, I figured they'd make some repairs and then send Prime on his way. Then he just took off like Iron Man and I was like, "Oh, Prime can fly."

So. Is Optimus a Prime, born from a lineage on Cybertron....Or, is he a Knight, which a apparently is spawned from the creators specifically for a reason? Or, are perhaps ALL Cybertronians "knights"?

DAMMIT why does the movie not even ADDRESS these things?

Into space. To go to the creators. Whom he doesn't know or understand. In a place in deep space that he has no idea of. Alone. With rocket boots.

    Good god

Okay, now I'm questioning this along with you. Does Optimus even know where the creators are? He doesn't know what they look like or who they are in the first place.

I took it as Optimus leaving because now he knows he's being hunted, and thus wanted to leave Earth as soon as possible to keep Earth out of the crossfire. Maybe he figures the Creators will discover or already know of Lockdown's failure, and will come to him (or send someone else) rather than than him to them.

The Dinobots were one of the best and worst parts of the movie for me. On one hand, they are completely awesome when they do show up. On the other hand they are a totally random dino ex machina (see what I did there). They just kind of show up with few explanations or prior foreshadowing. I'm really confused by them too.

That's the impression I got as well. Doesn't really change anything. The Dinobots could be 50 million years old and Optimus 40 million, and they'd pre-date him by 10 million years.

Why are you thinking Cybertron is older than 60+ million years old?

Why would they be called "The Creators" if they didn't create things? I don't think they were simply harvesting.

The movie did, more or less. Lockdown tells Optimus "you think you were born? you were BUILT. And THEY want you back." That pretty much tells us everything Optimus knows of his life and lineage is wrong. Possibly that everything his forefathers knew was wrong as well.

THIS movie may not have explained that, but it did set up the NEXT movie to explain exactly that, given the final scene.

If one thing's for sure, this movie kind of fucked up everything about the Allspark and the Dynasty of Primes from the previous films.
