My coworker is a friend of mine and his cousin is a cop.
They have a taser training coming up this saturday and are looking for a volunteer who isn't a cop or military, so that the trainees can see how a "normal" person will react to being tased.
I've been watching videos of it on youtube....
    LETI Taser Certification - YouTube

    and I am strangely interested.

Not sure if I am going to do it or not. Would you?

I'm seriously thinking about doing it.

Only if they say the magic words. "I'll buy you dinner."

I'd probably do it for shits, but I'd definitely expect something to come back my way for that.

Being tased is a pretty big deal. I'd at least expect some form of compensation, honestly. I mean, this isn't volunteering to help the homeless or something. You're going to have an electrical current shot through your body that will probably knock you out. Compensating you is the least they can do.

As for your question, no I would not do it.

I'd do it if the person was offering an MP-10.

Do you have any heart, nervous, or muscle problems? If not, ride the lightning I guess.

Well, considering Tasing has caused death before, it's your choice.

    Wait, what?

To be certified to carry a Taser, that person is the one who needs to be tased. Same with OC (pepper) spray.

Well, I don't know any details on how they really affect a human's body, but I think tasers should be banned. And cops should not be allowed to shoot first in the U.S., but that's another topic...

And you shouldn't let yourself get tased. I don't think that it can be good, because of how our nervous system works.

Its electrocution. They run a current through your body using the electrodes that fire from the tazer. This causes your muscles to involuntarily seize and from what I hear, this is pretty excruciating. If the current passes over your heart, or if you're tazed too many times in succession, it can induce arythmia or stroke or burns or any number of other health issues.

It's a "less than lethal" weapon, which is a big difference from "non-lethal".
