Ever since Iv'e started following transformers fanwork on youtube and on here.. I am amazed at some of the partners the guys have. Amazed that some of them are married and successful.

Actually, I'm not too worried about being financially stable.

But I have yet to go on a date with a girl who didn't give off the vibe that
"any man who still likes giant robots and other science fiction is childish"

And i don't start the first date, with a latany on transformers. I just use some vague questions...

I'm at a loss here guys. I really like science fiction, and I just can't see how I can get along with a woman, who doesn't even share somewhat of an interest in science fiction.

Its like the old addage of the "fantasy girlfriend, for a star wars fan"

And I've tried, big girls, taller girls, slimmer girls .. etcetera so I don't think its me holding women to an unreasonable physical standard.

 

You just need to be yourself. if she does not like you for who you are then she is not worth your time.
But if you are one of those Star Wars guys who dresses like HandSolo at conventions then good luck! :OP just kidding.

Anyways. after over 6 mos. without a girlfriend, I decided to try online. I cannot ask a stranger out for the life of me (It's not the lack of confidence, I just don't believe in it.) and I too busy at work to meet new ladies.

My ex-gf and I met at college, I spoiled her too early, she never adapted to my lack of time and resources. I spoiled her by spending a lot of time with her, seeing her everyday, and gave her a massage that eventually lead into a kiss. (And not further)

If I had the opportunity to court a lady again I would. But these days. I'm not sure who I can court anymore.

If you're the kinda person that actually posts on a TF board looking for help, you have problems WAAAAAAY beyond your toy collecting.

So here's what you should do. Stop worrying about getting laid now. Seriously, put it completely out of your mind. Instead, start working on getting more attention that you know what to do with five years from now.

You're financially stable? Good. Women like that. Not 'cause they're gold-diggers, but because they appreciate a man who has the characteristics necessary to achieve stability: ambition, work ethic, dedication, focus.

Use some of that financial success to join a gym. Get a trainer or do some research and get in shape.

Cultivate an image. Groom yourself, for Chrissakes. Dress well.

Become involved in things that will enable you to meet people. Whatever you're interested in. I drink. Other cool options, just off the top of my head, are kickball, hashing, church (not my thing, but it works)...hell, I don't know. Stuff like that is hyperpersonalized, not just you, but your area, etc. It's not even about meeting a partner/mate/whatever, but also meeting women who can introduce you to their friends. WHICH IS A GOLDMINE.

We all have in common is TFs. Therefore he's asking about dating advice from all.
People come here asking from advice (which this is) to prayers. The best place to get prayers is a church (no Athesis or People of different religions there), and yet it appears here.

My girlfriend isn't into Sci-Fi at all, but we've been together for 5 years now because she digs me. I'm a decent guy that doesn't treat her like crap and that makes a world of difference. Just be yourself and to hell with the girls that can't deal with your hobby! There are others that can and will be happy to spend their time with you.
