I remember in New York, Transformers were everywhere. Almost every single shop in Brooklyn had a few displayed in their windows. And the biggere departments stores like old Wolworths, A&S, Alexander's, and Macy's had full on displays set up. I remember ont time going into downtown Brooklyn's Wolworths, the toy dept was downstairs. As soon as I got off the escalator, right in front of me,a s if I was being welcomed to the department by it, was The Devastator Giftset.

    Ahh man......great days...

    Awesome! (Wipes tear from eye)

Those pics look like Toys R Us. Is that right.

Also, THAT's what a toy isle should look like AND the packages too.

Forget the Gokins. Look at all the Soundwaves!
:(  This is why I kind of wish Hasbro would give re-releasing a lot of the G1 stuff to stores another shot. We get exclusives here and there, but I'm talking mainstream stuff. I'd love to go to a Wal-Mart and see G1 on the shelves in their vintage boxes. :(
And I mean it's not like they don't have any marketing. Seeing as we're getting the original series on the Hub.

My Toys R' Us still uses those tags for games. I did that last month when they had a 20% off any game coupon. What do other stores do instead?

With the money he had, he probably collected the certain bills of various years, tracked them all down, or went back in time to find the bills, who knows. Maybe he took all his quarters with the different years, took them to a bank, and got bills for them. Hell, I got a 60's $5 bill a few years back as change, with the old red ink.

Back to the topic at hand:

I remember Childrens Palace... GiJoes, Transformers, Star Wars...even the Ghostbusters and Rambo figures. Down to the Boxing Arcade game by the door(either George Forman or Mike Tyson). *Sigh* Those were great times. Days when you had less worries in the world, days when you would just walk into the store and you would be filled with joy. Even though you were only allowed ONE toy. :)

I also remember when the Childrens Palace was starting to close down. Half the store was empty and being torn apart inside. Toys just sitting there wanting to be bought before the store ceased to exist. :(

I seem to remember the 90's a little better. At TRU, there were Power Rangers, Star Wars, the next isle had the odd stuff like Johny Quest. Then it was just the basic store setup where isles were all uniform. Just over the weekend, I went to a TRU in Sandusky that had that same old setup, that brought back a good feeling.

Now if you excuse me...I am off to shed some tears in the corner. :cry

I think I'm more excited about the Godaikin figures than the Transformers in that one!

Actually, you saw exactly what the TF looked like. They had a window that you could see them in. Just look at Soundwave on the shelf there. I think stuff like Metroplex and Fort Max were ones that they didn't put windows in.

I think he might be referring to the non-TFs in that picture.

I was just having a talk about this type of thing the other night.

When they used to say if you break it you buy it, she said it could have jsut been our parents saying it to scare us, but I swear I had seen signs saying it when I was younger.

Yesterday apparently a lady broke a bottle of wine at my store, then broke 2 more after she moved, and then expected my boss to wipe it off her.
she should have had to pay for at least some of it.

And I was tellign her about when I was little there used to be a worker that patrolled the toy isle fixing things and talkign to the kids that were there randomly and alone.

This is all part of them caring about their sections.

I never found good selections of TF at TRU really. I always went to Kmart, Kaybee, etc for finding TF. What I did love at TRU and would spend hours just staring at was the video game sections. Man those walls of plastic pouches with hundreds of games and the brightly lit glass displays with consoles and controllers in them. It was really like heaven. I would dream about what it would be like to have the NES Advantage and take that sucker home with me and destroy everyone on their normal controllers.

    Good times...

"What are you trying to pull here buddy? This ten dollar bill you gave me is the wrong color! - and why is the picture of the president so big? There's no way I'm taking this!"

They sell transformers too but specialize in Joes and SW figures mostly. Awesome place to visit though!

Dude that is a most excellent representation of the battle on Hoth in Empire Strikes Back.

Is this recent photo or something from the past?
