    All of em.

If there is one thing that Im grateful for, Is that My kids, got to have TRU when they were real little. My son is 12, and my Daughter is 9 now...One of my son's most precious memories is at TRU at his Bday. The lady at the counter gave him a crown, and because they were "out" of Bday toys, She gave my son this very Generic Teddy bear with a U of M T shirt on it. That teddy bear is my sons most prized possession.

It just sucks..Im not a fan of this time I live in..I wish My world started 100 years ago. Its not just about Toys..but for F@#$s Sake..Let kids be kids.

On the positive side...When my kids do something extraordinary I will Exclaim "AWESOME JOB!!! Im gunna take you to Toys R Us and buy you WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!"

The looks from my kids are Hilarious. They get so pissed at me!

LOL! I say the same thing to my 7-year-old! She’s also aware that it no longer exists.

TFWiki posted these yesterday on Twitter:

    87a.jpg 87b.jpg

    November 27th, 1987. Absolutely spellbinding!

See '86 assortment Starscream & Optimus still there, poster and non-poster box Magnus on shelves together, 86 Scourge, 86 Cyclonus, Gnaw among Predacons...but no Targetmaster Scourge! My UK memories are of displays in the UK are like this but more heavily feature TM Scourge & Cyclonus, and we've known for a while that the UK got more of Scourge than the US did. And of course, Headmasters everywhere, utterly gorgeous, what a time warp.

    All the best

...other than lego and possibly barbie, kids today have absolutely no sense of how vastly blockbuster toy lines once dominated retail and pop culture, both...

I only ever went to toyrus or toy world a few times as a kid but I knew I had exaggerated my memory of having entire aisles of action figures. I feel like I could have browsed for days as a kid and each time I went I think my parents gave me a grand total of 5 minutes to rush and pick something out.

This is excellent, but color photography was common back in the 80's, what I like to refer to as "the day".
I'd love to see that photo in it's almighty, G1 box art glory

Thanks for posting these Maz, absolutely incredible to see!

I have to say, I'm surprised to see so much original Optimus in a picture from 1987.

I think it must just be the 1986 assortment release of the toy, still in stock.

That's awesome. I actually have one of those white plastic things that hangs over the front of the shelves. Still has the unused double sided tape. Unfortunately it's too wide to fit in my current display case.

Here in Canada, TRU is still in operation. But the TF section is so small these days, just like at Walmart. I love hearing them pipe the song over the PA, lol. Thing is, my town never had a TRU when I was growing up so I don't have real nostalgia for it. For me, it was Sears and Woolco, lol. Canadian Tire also had great toy sections during Christmas, along with a very popular Santa and Ebeneezer Scrooge tv commercial series. You always knew that Christmas toy hunting season started when those commercials hit and the Sears Wishbook arrived!

Forbidden Planet, Greenwich Village, Circa 1987.

If you skip to around 02:10, you can see the stock room. There is a bunch of TFs and Joe items already taken out of the shipping cases.

There are six other videos in the series. In the fourth video, around 01:45 onwards, you can see a Night Raven, Flagg, Terrordrome, Conquest, in the background. Along with figures below.

Quality is 1980s handheld vid camera, so you may be squinting a bit. Some of the other five videos also have toy shelves in them.

Looks to be late 86 or 87, with all those headmasters on the shelf, beneath the Roadbusters!

lol, I was gonna comment that it's funny how videos filmed on old cameras often look like you're on drugs when the camera moves, then I skipped to 2:10 and saw the guys and thought to myself "Alright, it's not getting better, now I think this looks even more on drugs, only like everyone, instead of only the camera" :lol
