The more I interact with this guy the more I'm convinced it's something special. But it seems like it didn't review all that well with the usual youtube crowd. I dunno.

It's such a tidy take on Prime that poses so damn well. The proportions are so good and the lines are so good. Throw in a truck that is above average and the toy is a winner.

I get that. It reminds me somewhat of Magic Square's MS-02, which is their ultra-toon take on Optimus Prime. That figure likewise doesn't give off a "premium" vibe, but the proportions are nice, articulation is outstanding, and the transformation is clean and tidy. And likewise, it has an above-average truck mode. However, it doesn't feel special to me at all, and my guess is that I wouldn't think any more of SND-08.

Contrast SND-08 and MS-02 with MMC's Optus Pexus (or the newer one, Optus Prominon), which likewise has fantastic articulation but looks and feels very high-end. I don't display my figures, so shelf presence means very little to me-- it's more about the tactile experience. I don't own SND-08 so I can't actually say how it feels, but based on videos, it doesn't appear to be a figure I would enjoy handling and "messing with".

I’m grateful we have the resources today to preview a figure before actually buying it. I remember the days before… you would buy something only to be disappointed… you’ve tied up your time and money in something you no longer want. You had to either sell it, trade it, or wait till the 4th of July

Lol. As a kid I had many action figures and toy vehicles that met their end on the 4th of July!

Am I the only one that would like to see some 4th party upsize this? I think this mould, great at the size that it is, would absolutely size in a larger (MP) Scale

Maybe. Kinda like ROTF leader/voyager in reverse. His size hides his lack of paint and detail like a core class does. He would need Premium paint job and panel lines.

Yeah, this has paint and detail equal to or worse than some 3P legends out there. Scaling it up directly wouldn’t cut it— it would need finer sculpt work and considerably better paint application.

I suspect that anyone inclined to do so wouldn't see much of a market given the many Leader-class IDW Optimus figures over the years.

I am curious to see how Custom painters handle this Figure.

I only know of two, From GCreations and Generation Toy. And neither of them represent this design specifically

I was thinking about getting one to paint, but when I saw the transformation there were so many teensy pieces that I knew disassembly would be a nightmare.

It’s already molded to color. I got 2 one to leave alone and an extra for breakage or paint. I was thinking about just Crome the mask, grill and stacks. Then some weathering…
Not a Lot just that TF prime/live action look. When the camera zooms in you see all the scratches and battle damage.

I realize it came with alternative hands, but the default ones look awful. They would look bad even if the figure was half that size. I’m not one that needs articulated fingers— the static partly-open Fansproject hands honestly suited me fine— but those blue potatoes shoved onto his wrists don’t make the cut.

EDIT: Wait… do those hands fold out? Closed, they look like ugly lumps, but if they open then maybe I wouldn’t be so critical.

Yep, the default hands open to hold the gun. There's also a tiny ball joint for the thumb.

Ok, maybe it’s just the default clenched-fist position that looks bad to me.

Fell asleep watching the transformation videos had a long day at work yesterday. Will be later on transformation. The figure was open factory seal broken upon arrival. They probably checked it to make sure it was all there. The thingy between the chest windows would not seat correctly due to the screw. Had to fix that. So far he is F$#king EPIC… he is Not a toy. The One is for a serious enthusiast only. Worth 100$ well that’s your choice and yours alone. I have No Regrets… so far. My Show Z order was finally picked up by the post office and is making a plane trip. Will probs be 10 day to my porch. If i break this one I’ll have spare parts for #2

edit: the opening hands ar Ok for the Gun only the thumbs pop off easily. He comes with a clenched fist that looks better for static poses.

    open hands x2
    Pointing handsx2
    Fists x2
    Opening hands for the Gunx2
    Bladesx2

I will say if they were marketing this figure for mainline they should have done a 5mm peg and the appropriate fists…. Then included articulated hands x2…

this figure really does scratch an Optimus Prime itch for me.
    MP10V- 84-2005 or Marvel Optimus
Everything else is the return of Optimus Prime to present Day.
The One- a great modern day Optimus.

Really enjoyed it as a figure. Looks great, poses well. I could do with more toys at this scale.

Really hated it as a transformer. Fiddly, fragile, full of areas I felt uncomfortable forcing. A real shame.

He uses intricate plastic inlays instead of paint. The color detail is all there. Where do you feel color is missing?
