So here's a thread to say what little things bug you in graphics.

For me, clipping textures. It's just... Ugh, the drive me crazy. Amnesia custom stories are famous for these. And I was just playing the story for Amnesia(I was half way through the game a few weeks back, but all of my data just disappeared.) and I found one in the real game!

So what's it for you? What drives you nuts? And this isn't a "I hate the graphics in whatever game" thread, this is just small things in graphics.

When textures and models look so real, but the edges look pixelated. Usually there's things that conteract or distract from this, but I'll sometimes see a game or cutscene that look positively real... until I notice the edges.

And clipping textures as well, yes.

Clipping is the big one that gets me.

Also cutscene armories. I know I wasn't using the predator pistol and avenger assault rifle for the end of the game mass effect. It wouldn't be so annoying if it wasn't wildly inconsistent. Sometimes you have the weapons you equipped then next cutscene you have the starter pistol.

The constant dull "brown" look in almost every unreal engine 3 game.
Very little unreal 3 games have bright vibrant colors.

Greatly done models with abysmal shadows. I get that it's tough, but it drives me nuts.

When a game can't properly balance rendering. I hate it when a game has cutscenes prerendered at the base resolution, though I don't encounter that so often. Worse yet is when a game tries to render everything as it goes, making the experience either choppy or marred by endless loading times.

Signs that I can't read at all. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO KNOW WHERE THE HELL AM I WHEN I DON'T HAVE A MAP?

    -Blur that results from FXAA.

    -Horribly obvious LOD pop-in.

-Poor animation. (I honestly don't know how people can play the GTA and Halo games. The animation is so bad that it detracts me from the actual game.)

-White outlines around models. (I don't know what it is called, but I really hate this one.)

-Set pieces that are far too big for the models, Persona 3 is a good example; I'm watching a Let's Play fo it and that's been bugging me.

-Blurry sprites. I never used any of the filters in the PS2 King of Fighters games. I think the blur they produce looks really bad.

What's texture clipping? I know what model clipping is, I've played a crapton of SoulCalibur but I've never heard of texture clipping before.

Wait! Wait wait wait wait! Soul Blade and several PS1 games have that, don't they? Like where the textures just kinda freak out and constantly switch between the two that are overlapping. Is that it?

Screen tearing by far is the most annoying to me most of the time I think it's my TV that is doing it.

Games that have really dark parts and then really bright parts. Like, if I'm in a really dark part of the game and I need to adjust the brightness on the TV so I can see, and then it transitions to an extremely bright image.

Appalling game animations with shitty motion capture or repetitive playing stuff for the simplest things. Hi lots of western games!

Console crutches that limit everything in today's game design.

    Under 60 frames.

Brown. "Hyper-realism." Ugly "realistic" character models that sit firmly in the uncanny valley. Dark color pallettes and lighting. Excessive bloom.

So basically, I kind of hate the graphics of most big name games nowadays. There are some like Mass Effect and Portal 2 that look gorgeous, though, and there are some who have great environments but horrid character models like Skyrim.

these. and when sounds are just slightly off from the visuals (not sure if that's necessarily graphics as much as it is audio but it's still annoying as hell). i also hate dust effects and when textures have to load in cutscenes

Pop up bugs the crap outta me. Especially when there's no excuse for it in games like Guild Wars 2.
