For those of you that have been following the news on here, There is a nice 3rd Party Wheelie out, sold by Headmaster1987. He didn't come with a slingshot, from what I understand, there may have been mold issues and it is to be released with the next figure which is Powerglide. I was unsure if I would buy Powerglide or not, so I tried my hand at a custom slingshot, based on the scene from the 86 movie where he shoots Grimlock in the nose.
I meant to include pictures of my progress, but got really into the contruction, so it was more or less complete by the time I got the camera out. It's bigger than what it appears to be in the movie, but it can easily be resized. The only thing left to do is to find the right shade of gray and this one will be finished. I also have enough materials to make three more. The rubberband is poseable, but not stretchy due to the wire running through it, and the plastic handle is hollow, but has a wire core and is filled with resin. The "leather" shot holder (whatever it's called) is made of a thin rubber coated fiberglass cloth and the "energy shot" is translucent red rubber.
Once it's all painted and dry, I'll take a some more pics. [IMG]

Here are the final (until I get new paint) pics.

The paint I'm using now is olg and rather cheap, but it also seems the plastic I chose for this doesnt like any type of color, as even permenant marker rubs right off. I'm going to make a trip to the store later tonight and get some better paint before I make any more of these. My next versions will be smaller probably.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES SOON!

    That would be the "sling".

Looks good. A fair bit more detailed than the actual thing is likely to be, since the JizaiToys slingshot was just a basic "Y".

LOL, SLING.. I knew that:dunce  Just wasn't thinking.
It actually has more detail than the picture shows, but the black basecoat and faint silver drybrush just don't bring it out. I was gonna try going over it in a dark flat gray, but when I got the bottle out, it was dried up, so now I'm either gonna have to keep adding silver or go to the store. LOL I tried to go all out with it, since a basic "Y" just wouldn't be as cool.
I'm glad you think it looks cool. I would have felt like a moron if the first comment would have been, "Man, that's lame." or something along those lines.
    Thanks!

This is pretty cool. Imagine if a customizer could add more articulation to wheelie's arm. A pose with him pulling the sling back would be awesome

Yeah, the diecast hands and articulation make decent poses impossible, but there isn't much I can see that could be changed in order to make him more poseable. The more articulation you add, the more his car mode suffers.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

    You have excellent taste! :thumbs2:

Having seen that Wheelie is a bit bigger than he really should be I've been mulling over whether to keep mine when it arrives or not but he looks really nice so I don't think him not being able to fit properly with my Classics will matter....I can always find space for cool figures.
