Most of the "red" you are seeing is the red sound effect. Most of the actual blood is blacked out. Even if it wasn't, it is still not enough blood for an R rating.

Or they’re just resigned to the fact that loads of people unironically state all sorts of stupid stuff on the internet, therefore it’s difficult to tell if someone’s cracking a joke or are just saying wild things.

Like I said, I'm just basing it on that one page, but it feels a bit sloppier than Ottley's usual stuff. That last panel of Brawn getting ganked by Megatron feels like it was doodled in the margins of a school notebook. :)

Some of this is also in the nature of the subject matter. What feels loose and expressive when dealing with familiar organic characters can sometimes look crude or awkward when drawing Transformers. I've always found that some styles translate well to drawing TFs, while other artists (while otherwise being totally competent) can really stumble when it comes to getting the right "feel". And of course, there are many accomplished TF artists whose work looks stiff or uncomfortable when working with the human form. It's a very specialized skillset, I think.

I (mostly) like Warren's "loose" style with Transformers... as long as he fights the urge to lapse into extreme right angles and using big flat planes with thick holding lines where foreshortening would be better applied. The sense of framing, ambience, and motion is really strong... something that some people lose sight of by focusing too much on his loose style - "but he draws hands sloppy!"

If he nails the framing, ambience, and motion of a comics story, then I really don't mind, even if he draws hands that look like Mike Mignola drew them blindfolded. :)

Ottley's approach feels more wonky... simultaneously too scribbled and cartoony, but also too dense and constrained by the small panels.

    NEVER!

I'd prefer people just read for context, and use their brains. I kind of hate blue text. It's like rampant emojis, but less fun.

Looks like elita-1 on the cover. Wonder who the solicit refers to? Someone on cybertron rather that earth?

    Shockwave maybe?

Checking in on Cybertron should be interesting. Might pick up that issue.

Even Dreamwave waited around more to introduce Elita than these guys... (And IDW even longer)

Well Dreamwave waited so long they went outta business. And from what I hear IDW Elita was far removed from her OG self.

That would be correct. She’s a straight up villain in IDW. A certified psychopath.

I’m so happy Elita has been getting the respect she deserves recently.

Temple of Doom is part of the reason why PG-13 exists (along with Gremlins and to a lesser extant Ghostbusters) but it had nothing to do with Spielberg requesting it to get away with more. All three of those movies were released with PG ratings and parents got upset that there was a movie rated PG, which is generally considered family friendly, with a guy getting his heart ripped out of his chest

Hasbro's been pushing Elita recently, I love that they remembered Optimus Prime had a girlfriend and went "why isn't she in more things??"

She's fine in Earthspark but I hope Skybound can bring some more life to her character. And her relationship with Optimus. There's so much potential there

So basically a villain with no relationship to Optimus? ::sighs::

Out of curiosity was Chormia handled similarly?

Lol, this is like when people find out that the ESRB was made not directly because of Mortal Kombat, but instead Night trap.
