If this happens I'm literally gonna cry. I fell in love with this figure when I first saw it, even knowing it'd be an overpriced Scout, but the partsforming instantly killed it when we found out about it. If this simple add-on fixes that, I'll gladly shell out for it and pick up a Cliffjumper.

If it's that easy to fix, why didn't Hasbro just... Do it in the first place?

A very good question. I mean couldn't they at least make taking apart the rear end of the vehicle optional like how removing most of the car off of ER Arcee's robot mode is optional? That way it would've lessened people's frustration over the decision a great deal.

It's amazing how a little connector can improve a figure so much.

    The description says:

*The installation of this kit requires to remove one shaft on the back of the figure. It's better for buyer to have experience in it. We would offer videos and detailed instructions on how to remove the shaft and proceed with the transformation later.

    What does that mean?

requires pin removal of the shield handle, thats how it attaches to the rear of the vehicle. you use the pin from the foldable handle to fix the kit in place on the rear of the vehicle. after watching a video of the kit it honestly makes the transformation very cumbersome and its still partsforming as the kit simply plugs into the 5mm port on his back. its 3d printed so tolerances vary greatly and its likely youd get a kit that would just fall out of the 5mm port during transformation

    Well poo....

The kit simply plugging onto the port on the "shield" I could handle, as I could just ignore it being removable. But something 3d printed is definitely not what I want. I didn't see a video before, so I'll hafta check the site again.

a video review popped up when the kit first popped up, couldnt tell you where to look other the checking through the matrix workshop thread, for some reason 90% of things on tfsafari end up in that thread

Holey crap, now THAT'S how he should've been designed in the first place, a removable part that can be ignored if you so choose.

I don't like that the piece is 3D printed, but if a KO company releases a 1/1 KO of this guy with that attachment piece, then I'll buy every color that they make of him.

Because HasTak were probably aiming to imitate the backpack-less character model.

Does he confirm that it rolls freely once that bottom piece is folding in fully?

It looks close, but to me there looks to be a sliver of clearance for rolling on a flat surface.

Which wouldn't have been impossible with this connector piece in place.

It would also be an additional 2 plastic pieces and an extra metal pin, which may seem insignificant but it adds cost. Think about it this way. So many people are complaining that cliffjumper is too small for the price (not in this thread yet but it’ll come), this upgrade kit effectively makes him voyager price. How many people want a $30 cliffjumper?

I'm a very apologistic person who can often excuse the shortcuts Hasbro takes, it is very difficult to get me to call Hasbro lazy or cheap, and even I honestly, truly doubt they were so tight on budget that they couldn't make Cliffjumper not partsform. The only reason I can concieve for it is they were so obsessed with cartoon accuracy that they prioritized the end result of a backpackless robot over the engineering of the transformation so much so that they didn't even care about the idea of a self-contained transformation.

So you're saying because this is 3D printed, it's likely that the connection to the figure will be extremely loose and fall off a lot (in and of itself, a big assumption) and somehow that makes this kit partsforming? By that logic, every other Transformer with parts that fall off due to poor connection are partsformers too, then.

...No. You plug this part into the back and keep it there, and if it's loose you tighten it with Future or nail polish or glue or tape or fucking paper. It's not hard.
