I love the movie designs but they stretch our suspension of disbelief sometimes. Most of the bots shouldn't even have interiors or atleast comfortable ones for humans. BB definitely shouldn't have a back seat or any trunk space at all. Prime's transformation also means he really doesn't have any empty space at all. I thought the whole reason he carried in his hands Sam and Mikaela in the first film was because his alt mode didn't have empty space. Somehow Sam manages to climb in the front seat despite Primes shoulders and head being crammed into that area. Why does Ironhide look so short compared to Prime in ROTF despite there being only a 6ft or 7ft difference at most? That would put him right below Primes ribs not at his crotch. The scale jumps around alot in the movies despite what the producers say...

the only thing consistent about TF is that their sizes and scales are inconsistent through the TF universe, heck, its better top use size inconsistenmcy as a defining feature of TF toys over the transformation gimmick as they dont all actually TF!

Does anyone still have that old size chart that got thrown together for the first movie?

I remember the flame wars leading up to the first film where people stated that the live actions could not and would not have any such thing otherwise the film would fail.

    Funny, eh?

Optimus is 32 feet tall, that was confirmed by Scott Farrar. He's made of 10,108 parts. Besides, I don't think it would make any sense if Prime was supposedly 7 feet shorter then Megs, but looked to be the same height in the movies.

Starscream is the same height, if not smaller. That's clearly seen when the two are dueling in the Forrest.

I agree Megatron is 35 feet tall. He's ever so slightly taller than Prime in both films. Like when he yanks his sword out of Prime's chest, and the two are standing next to eachother before Prime falls.

    So...

    Starscream : 31 feet tall.

Optimus Prime : 32 feet tall.

    Megatron : 35 feet tall.

    This?

    Image:Movie scale chart.jpg - Transformers Wiki

Not sure how accurate it may be though, since these are different designs.

I say roll with it. I don't care about scale as long as it isn't too crazy.

Crazy is the twins somehow having their own individual alt forms when they were just recently crammed inside of a small ice cream truck. Ridiculous would be Soundwave being an ipod that turns into a 30ft robot. The movie designs are just supposed to be "plausible". There is mass shifting in the movie designs but only enough to add or subtract around 6ft(A head taller or shorter to most transformers) in height without the casual movie goer going WTF.

Specific numbers are hard to come by
I've always heard that Prime was about 28 feet.
Screamer is about 30 a little more
Megs is something closer to 35 a little less.

But most of the heights given make absolutely no sense.
For example Sideswipe being something like 24 feet tall in
the official movie guide. I can't remember how accurate that
may be from the film, but I'm sure when we get some DVD screenshots
we can at least make guesses.

Generally scale is something that is sort-of-kind-of. We can't make completely
accurate measurements because of inconsistency. We have to say things like this character is about this height and is something a little taller and this character or this one is half the height of that one. It's all guesswork on our part so nothing can be completely accurate.

I like thinking about scale, because I like to get my toys as close as possible to the appropriate scales as I see them. Can you do that all the time? No. The fact that you cannot find the scales written out or regarded as important by the media itself doesn't mean it's silly to think about it. In fact scale, either in its inconsistency or consistency within the fandom is a big part of it. So while people will chime in and say how stupid this is, it's not. It's something valid to debate and discuss.

The toys aren't to scale. Either to eachother or to their rl vehicles.

And it would look fucking ridiculous and laughable.

    Just so everyone knows.

All land-based Transformers are about as tall as their vehicle modes are long.

Ex: Prime's semi- 28 feet in length, which is also his height.

All air-based Transformers are as tall as half the length of their vehicle mode.
The reason being is think of the plane/helicopter folding in half to make a compact chassis for the transformer.

Ex: F-22 Raptor 62 feet in length, Starscream is 31 feet in height.

Ex: MH-53 Pavelow- 88 feet, Blackout/Grindor are both 44 feet in height. This can clearly be seen when Prime goes ape-shit on the three decepticons in the second movie.

Sea-based: I'm guessing they follow the same rules as the land-vehicles.

This would mean a Knock Nevis is freaking 1500 feet !! That is impossible, a think Ships follow more the Aerailbased Concept. So a Knuck Nevis is very big but compared to its lenght it is thin, so i think it would be less than 700 feet.

No worse than G1 Soundwave and certainly no worse than Frenzy who looked both ridiculous and laughable and seemed to mass shift anyway.
