Right now, at this moment, I say no.

I love his older stuff, but his IDW stuff was kind of lackluster. Of course, that may be because he never really got to finish whatever he was going for.

Likewise, Regeneration One was... well, a lot of things I didn't care for. Of course this may simple be due to not really knowing how to "end" that continuity, but then, that was the whole point of the book.

So, I guess on my roundabout way, what I am saying is "No, if it's just to have him write again for the sake of writing, but Yes if he has a plan."

Nope. He had his good times but his most recent output points at him being out of ideas.

    Absolutely!.

His -ations and spotlight series etc were great. I'm sure his input would help with the new series too.

No thanks. I prefer we get new blood, that tries something new, rather than keep sitting in my nostalgia comfort zone. If I want to read good Furman stuff, I have his whole Marvel, WW or early IDW run for that.

Trying something new hasn't really worked lately. In my view, anyway.

I don't think I'd want him on an ongoing series again, but I'd love to get him on another mini again where he can tell some stories.

Agree to disagree. Still, if we didn't give new guys a chance, we wouldn't have Nick Roche minis and solos, or Roberts and Barbers ongoings. Sure, on the downside, there were also Mikes Costas and McCarthys along the way... But I would rather go through that bumpy road again, than keep riding the same nostalgic horse.

I don't think it's an either or situation. I think we can get new blood and give Furman a mini now and again. I do like getting new takes on the transformers though.

I blame a lot of what IDW has put out on editorial and managements lack of a plan or any input.
I say what would it possibly hurt?
G.I.Joe has an “IDW-verse” series and a Larry Hama universe. The Hama verse isn’t exactly setting the fan base ablaze either but it exists. Why can’t a Furman TF title?
    Let’s run this down:
    TF UK: Excellent
    TF US: Excellent
    War Within (Dreamwave) Excellent
    TF Armanda/Energon (Dreamwave) Excellent
The -ations, Storm bringer, all the way to Max Dino’s: Excellent
    Beast Wars 1 & 2: Excellent
    Regeneration 1: not that good
His track record is waaaayyyy better then people make it out to be.
Keep the new blood/new ideas but for goodness sakes let’s bring Furman back for another. Pair him up with Guido. Make it unlimited. I don’t know what universe it can be and I don’t care. I would purchase and read anything he puts out TF related.
On a side note, I’ve dropped Ruckleys book. Only time in my life I have not had a TF book in my pull box. I’m not trashing it. I’m glad there are fans who like it. But it would also be nice to accommodate those of us who prefer what we liked before.
    That’s my stand.

Can't agree here. While the first mini was ok, if a bit fanwanky (yes Simon, we know you love Grimlock and he's teh awesome...), the second one was one giant mess, with way to many characters just droping in (especially when we had US toy characters and their japanese counterparts on the same page, looking almost identical... seriously, why?), and plot that depended on knowlege of obscure BotCon stuff, like anglomosis, or who the hell Shockaract is. With is too bad, as the ending of second mini promised us a bridge betwen BW and BM, showing us how Megatron took over Cybertron... With is something I would be far more interested in, than what we saw in those minis.

The latest Furman's achievement is grimderpying the opening to the Marvel run. The previous one was ReGeneration.

Bring him exactly for what? He's burned out.

I didn't think the most recent issue 0 was all that bad.

Bring him back for people who like his style of writing?

I think there is a place for his brand of genderless, low politics, action bots. (That's not too say there isn't a place for gendered, politics bots too)

Transformers 84 was great in my eyes, harmless silly fun. If people don't like it dismiss it as alternate universe, like I do with Regen. Marvel G1 was full of them.

This is like asking if Keanu Reeves should play Neo in Matrix 4.

Of course he should come back!

I think there is place for the low-quality stuff that has permeated TF-comics recently, that is to say the exact opposite of what you list; genders, high politics, boring bots with no action & sitting in bars and having dumb romances. Wanna know where? Tumblr and/or Twitter.

Furman's track record is superb. A few bad issues or mini-series does not negate his achievements thus far. Spouting such silly notions would be the equivalent of saying that a drop of blood would turn the Atlantic ocean into an ocean of blood. People claiming that Furman is washed up? Yawn. Saying that the earth is flat would be more credible & truthful than claiming that Furman is washed up.

A Furman/Guido ongoing would be a Christmas miracle. Too bad it would be ruined by IDW editors.

I would say under the condition that he's absolutely not allowed to write about the Matrix going evil, or evil matrices, or anything like that. He plays that card far too much. I would also say he should stick to short miniseries or one-shots. Whenever he writes for the trade, you get pretty lame single issues.
