I like Mass Effect and I noticed some similarities between the two franchises. For example, Optimus Prime and Paragon MaleShep share some personality traits.

 

I think if you look at characters in a lot of your favorite franchises, you'll find a lot of those sorts of similarities. There's a concept called an archetype which describes the kinds of basic character templates storytellers have used over and over and over for thousands of years, changing them slightly to fit different settings. You might find a lot of these characters are built off those sorts of storytelling archetypes.

 

As many wise people have said, there is nothing new under the sun.

 

Maybe whoever created Paragon MaleShep is a Transformers fan and put some of Optimus' traits into it.
