Being a huge fan of the games, I am really excited for this movie. But I am being cautiously optimistic about it. Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck!"
Holy shit. Someone looks like they got it right. A videogame movie that follows the plot of the game, and doesn't look to screw it up completely. Plus I love horror films. Could have winner folks.
Is that Pyramid Head, near the end of the trailer? Wrong iteration of the franchise, but it'd be nice.
I don't mean to sound too picky, but the movie looks like it'll be good, but the TRAILER seemed kind of boring. I get the feeling that if you haven't played the games, the trailer would just seem...really boring and generic. I mean, *I* know that Silent Hill is cool and special (I've played SH 1-3), and most of the posters here probably think it's cool and special, but the average movie-goer won't see anything in the trailer that sets it apart from The Ring or Dark Water. And...I haven't been following the development of this movie. Is it just the plot of SH1, but Harry is a girl, Cheryl is Sharon, and with a Pyramid Head cameo?
I've never really played the games, at least beyond any demo discs, but this looked really good. Actually, noI have played 4. The Room or something like that and it seemed to suck... how were the other games?
After watching the trailer again, I like how they made the "snow" ash. I don't remember if they explained that in any of the games, but it definitely makes the story a lot more weird.
Looks pretty good. Played 2 & 3 and they were pretty cool. Really liked 2. They went a little heavy on the fog lol They seemed more eerie like hell than scary, but still pretty scary. Sometimes it's better to be that way instead of depending on cheap "pop out" scares that too many movies already do.
From what ive read, its like an hybrid of SH1 & SH3, with elements of SH2 i really hope it doesnt suck Also, all the pics ive seen, seems that they hit the nail with the whole town, everything looks like the games I seriously hope also, that they use the original intro in the movie (it was used at the end of the trailer)
woah, the website also relaunched http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/silenthill/ from time to time, goes from light to dark SH O_O
well, for the subsequent games, they had to make a better foggy town, because for the original, was thanks of the PS limits Seriously, SH1 is the only game that has creeped me while playing at night, sometimes i had to turn off the PS
Wow, that looks pretty damn good. I've never played the games, but from what I have seen of them this movie looks faithful.
....Could someone PLEASE explain me WHY the background music of the flash-site keeps playing when I've closed the window?
I think the best game in the series is Silent Hill 2. Everything was so...right. I also still think that SH2 has the best-implemented story in any videogame I've ever played. Sure, lots of games have had better STORIES (KOTOR, Xenogears), but Silent Hill 2 USED its story the best and presented it in the most interesting way. I played SH2 years ago, and I still have intelligent conversations with my friends on what exactly happened in SH2, who was real, who was a demon, etc. I played SH3...liked it...but it basically had no story at all, and that's when I stopped with the series. Especially after the phenomenal story in SH2, SH3's story just seemed like it wasn't trying very hard. Neat graphics, though. More about the movie...sure, it looks like CGI, but those sequences where "good" town became "evil" town looked SO COOL. I'm guessing that in the final movie there will be grain and filters on the screen so it won't look like fake CGI, but maaaaaaan. COOL. I don't know what else to say. COOL COOL COOL. I also don't think I'm used to seeing Pyramid Head WITHOUT filters/on-screen noise before. I like how his design remained virtually unchanged, but it just looked really bizarre to see him when the screen wasn't filled with blips and (intentionally) skipping frames. And the last thing I have to say for now is, I hope they use the original music. I saw on IMDB that someone who ISN'T Akira Yamaoka is writing the music, which troubles me. I don't think Silent Hill's effect is complete with just some generic scary music. The Silent Hill "sound" is very unique, and I hope the music in the movie remains faithful to the game. The best way I can put it to people who have never played the game is: SH music makes you feel like you're dying. That's the best I can put it.
IMDB isn't very good for info. Akira IS writing the music. The creators and Akira have stated so several times in interviews.
