If it's as G1 accurate/inspired as Jetfire, I might have to bite, even if I already have Fancy Cell's Transportation Captain, who for me was nigh on perfect as a CHUG Astrotrain. HasTak has been absolutely killing it lately for me. (Bank account cries safe word repeatedly.)

I am interested to see if this pans out. Right now, there's a nagging tug in the back of my brain saying we've got this all wrong and it's simply Walmart reissue Astrotrain. The release date times it perfectly with the reissue and I can easily see Hasbro and Walmart asking $49.99 for him.

 

You know I was really hoping that they would do more leader figures for the siege line and that fact that their could be a leader Astrotrain I\'m pefectly fine with that so far I\'m really loving this new War For Cybertron line 

 

I thought they might make Astrotrain one of those new larger figures. This is cheaper at least, but still, three good Leaders in one line, that's murder for me.

 

Heck yes ! I'm hopeful that we're going to see more toonish color schemes, design ECT ...

 

Wouldn't Astrotrain work better as a commander class, like Jetfire, particularly as WFC Siege Leader class is Voyager + Armour?

Only if you want Microbots riding around in him. Shockwave's Nemesis mode is about the same size as TR Astrotrain's shuttle mode - and about what I'm expecting here if it pans out.

 

I seriously hope this is true, and that it means we'll be getting one Autobot and one Decepticon triple changer per line, because those Headmaster triple changers just didn't do it for me.  

 

Please please PLEASE let it turn into a convincing steam engine! I don't care if it's stylized and spacey, just as long as it's recognizable as a train! Classics Astrotrain was too small, Titans Return Astrotrain turned into an elongated pile, I just want a good Astrotrain who gets to be a bit tall!

 

Yeah I feel the same way about it - "Train" is literally in the name, it's important to get it right.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing a better take on Astrotrain, but it's so soon. I don't hate the TR version and feel we would be better served with a different character but, oh well. This is assuming the rumor is true, of course.

 

Nope TR Astrotrain hit none of the notes in any mode.

 

I thought his robot mode was quite good. Best one out of any toy he's received.

 

The bar wasn't that high, to be fair. =p

 

Things im excited for
-this whole line has been very g1 inspired, looking at springer, omega supreme, jet/skyfire, we could get a big ass space shuttle who also turns into a big ass steam tran
-cybertronian steam train is a sentence that gets me amped
-considering almost every leader has some sort of small dude in a big suit gimick, makes me wonder what could come of a small astrotrain who wears some sort of armor, maybe something in the vein of shockwave

 

That gimmick would've actually been perfect for Sentinel Prime to emulate his black armor from the comics.

Awesome! A leader Astrotrain that will be smaller than the TR voyager. I really hope they jack the price up to $60 or $70. I want to pay twice the leader price for a figure smaller than a voyager. Because, you know, that's Siege for ya! All the cool kids piss their money away on Siege. Can I be cool too?
