Someone on this Facebook group I'm on had this to say about Springer: "Can barely manage to stand up straight, ankles are loose, no peg to keep them from leaning the figure back, WAYYYY less impressive out of the box. Oh well." This true, or are they blowing things out of proportion?
Sounds like their whining about it. But he does lean back a little due to no ankle tab. Or that might just be bad QC. Because On my copy Springers ankles are just fine.
Picked him up from my local target. He feels as solid and stable as the rest of the voyagers in this line. Really the only problem I have is that his swords don’t store well in his robot mode.
I got Springer today and my copy does ankles that are pretty loose, to the point I’m having trouble standing him up. Tomorrow I’ll give him the future treatment and all will be fine. But then again YMMV.
Transformed through all 3 modes today. The chest can be tricky to align. There is a painted translucent piece for the torso that has a pin fired through it. Was worried when I saw stress marks but I think it's normal for the end where the far end of the pin rests. No cracks yet, rubbed my fingernail over to check. It doesn't actually move much, so I'm not too worried. The leg articulation is amazing. If the ankle rivets are loose, it's possible. You can peg it on sideways using the side 5mm pegs or insert a gun barrel in, instead of the sword handles.
The more handle this guy the more I’m impressed with him. It’s crazy to think the Warbot Defender I had as my CHUG Springer years back is vastly outclassed by this mainline release.
I bought two copies of Springer. The first one had a pretty serious QC issue that I have not seen anyone else mention, so I think I got a dud. Oh, and the feet were pretty loose on my initial copy. The second copy is much better in all aspects. Yes, the ankles are still somewhat loose, but not nearly as bad as that first copy of the figure.
I put some future polish on the ankle rivets this morning, now his ankles hold better so prob will do some photos later tonight.
Yeah, I need to get a fresh bottle of that. Problem is I'm still not certain what that stuff is actually labelled as nowadays.
Compared to what? I got my old future polish yeaars ago and it's definitely changed label/name by then.
I use this for all my tightening needs. After massaging some finish into the ankle rivets, Springer feels a lot more stable. No more worry about the chunky bot tipping backwards anymore~
Got mine transformed correctly to helicopter mode for the most part last night. It's tricky to align due to the chest. However I found that it's easier if you tab the forearms into the sides of the frame 1st. Then go from there, leaving room at the upper arms to tab the grey tabs into the greyish-blue frame. Aside from the above, transformation is fairly intuitive.
Does anyone know why Target has Springer streetdated until the end of July? Has anyone been able to buy him there anyways?
What was wrong with him? For mine the ankles are ify, and it's kinda tricky to get him posed, but once you get it, he stays!
I don’t know why they street dated him but I bought one at Target today and know how to get around it. I just brought a Starscream to the self checkout with Springer, scanned it twice and then called a team member over to remove Starscream because I decided I didn’t want it. It’ll work with any Siege Voyager. As for Springer, I lucked out and got decent ankles on mine. One of the swords was bent but the hot/cold water treatment fixed that right up. Great figure! Probably my second favorite voyager in the line just behind Optimus.
So just to completely understand this, Target has Springer on the shelves but won’t let someone actually buy it? That’s insane! Good tip on the work around though. I’ll keep it in mind if I find it. The only thing is that the DPCI won’t match up if you need to return it though, right?
Love the figure. All modes are great, joints are satisfyingly tight. then I spun the propellar a little too vigorously. Now I need to rearrange the room to find one of the swords. this always happens to me.
