This dude is amazing. His leg transformation is a bit convoluted but makes sense once you do it. He has weapon storage on his back. I think the paint apps really work More pics to come. Locking in the cockpit is a bit wonky
Bot mode is very cool. Weapon storage seems a bot silly bit necessary. Again the cockpit and chest are super tight on mine
I really like the T30 Springer, but man, I'm really wanting this guy, which I've got on order from Pulse (saving me $5). I'm curious to see how this is with the T30's sword/propellers instead in helicopter mode looks. I'll admit a special soft spot for Springer, way back in 1998 or thereabouts, I was part of a test group for a Transformers RPG that the guy was hoping to sell to Wizards of the Coast, and for the campaign, I played as Springer, which got a lot of compliments from the GM and the other players, and was a good test run of the triple changer mechanic in game. The game sadly never got published, but it did get far enough along I had to sign NDA's about the game mechanics. Since then I think I've gotten every Hasbro Springer.
I almost did a review today, glad you got to it first. The other time I did one, with about 20 (mediocre at best) photos, a full rundown of articulation and all modes from front, back, and side, with size comparisons next to other related figures, some asshole immediately commented: "can we get a proper review?" Still salty about it years later. Anyhow, great figure and thanks for the review. In car mode, I noticed you can store the combined weapon mode using the peg on the gun in front rather than the helicopter rotation thing. It looks good, sits rock solid without spinning, and the peg for the rotating piece just fits in back. It's a significant improvement.
Are your ankles pretty loose? I picked mine up last week and I have a hell of a time getting him to stand up.
Here you go. So this is using the peg on the gun in front instead of the peg on the rotating helicopter piece attached to the gun in back. Sits flush to the roof, pegs into place securely and looks better.
Sorry, not sure what cowling is. However, if it answers your question the peg for the rotor assembly is resting on the back of the car rather than floating. There's a little indentation there where the rotor assembly peg sits and it just fits, seems like this configuration was intentional.
There are a great many people who would be excited to see this, I think. Is there a photo of this? Oh by the way, by cowling I mean the dark green aft section. Of course your gunmode may be quite sufficient
You can kind of see it in the photo from the rear. The combined weapon is attached to the roof by the peg on the gun in front. The peg on the rotor assembly doesn't attach or peg into the figure, but it rests rather securely on top of the indented portion I was talking about. I'll try to put a pic up, but if that subtle indentation wasn't there, the peg for the rotor assembly would prevent you from tabbing the combined weapon in this way.
Ok, took a pic that shows how that back peg sits. I’m pretty sure there’s no storage under the green roof piece for the spinning rotor piece, there are some waffles under there but nothing I could find that would fit that piece. And then close. It works pretty close to perfectly the way I’ve done it anyway, so while that would be slightly better I’m not disappointed about that.
Thrilling 30 Springer is one of my favorite Transformers figures of all time, but this guy looks pretty great too. It's a good thing that they look so drastically different from each other, otherwise I might have a more difficult time justifying the purchase.
