I never really minded the monochromatic paint jobs on the rainmakers but I was never dead set on keeping them that way. Nothing too crazy though. Just some silver on the chests and black for the feet. I definitely made sure to tape off areas that I knew I would mess up otherwise. Taped off the fake cockpits, the fake intakes and the feet so I could add silver detail to the front of them. I just decided to freehand the hips and crotch. They weren't hard to do without tape. Three light coats of silver to get full coverage. No clumping and no visible brush strokes. Really happy with how it turned out. Though on the feet I either had issues of the paint sticking to the tape when I peeled it or the tape not sticking to the figure and letting the paint bleed. I think it was able to clean it up though. Only took two coats of black on the feet. I free handed them as I didn't want to risk putting tape on the silver paint. Also pleased how they came out. I might paint the hands black this weekend but other than that I'm quite happy with them.
You were right. The black hands do look pretty good. As of now, Starscream and Skywarp are now the only seekers that don't have black hands........so I think I have two more sets to paint, lol.
I'm still of the mind that Hasbro made them how they should look cause that's how they did look in their one episode. However I won't deny they look better with some color break-up. And I had fun doing it. So I'm glad Hasbro made them they way they did.
I'm looking at getting this set but the plain bright colours just don't sit right with me i get that's how they appeared but will definitely be painting some details like I have with other seekers in the past. These are great not too much but enough to give them more character. Nicely done
