Yeah, I'm just not seeing the reason for the fury over Pounce's face.

But neither am I interested in defending it any further.

 

Pounce's face looks fine to me. Not sure what is so bad.

 

The toy fair one is painted so the details in the face sculpt are brought out. Meanwhile the final toy has no paint and it looks mushy and less distinguishable from the rest of the head.

If it were any other part of the toy it wouldn't be terrible. But the head is the most important part of the robot mode.

 

Other than his blue undies I think I prefer the Magnus over the Ginrai, subtle things like the darker blue windows and larger symbols. I do wish it had the White undies, but like Six Shots Black thighs, I think I can deal.

I plan to recoup some of my money on the rest of the set since all I want is Prime.

 

I\'d take a prime but if nobody wants their metalhawk I totally need him.

We are not talking about a work of art here. It's a single colored face with 2 dots for eyes....

 

Ginrai has the white crotch, lighter blue windows and smaller Autobot symbols in vehicle mode and Magnus Prime Has the blue crotch, darker blue windows and larger Autobot symbols in vehicle mode. Magnus Prime's titanmaster is more 'Optumusy' colours and Ginrai's is in more 'Ginraish' colours.

Despite my having multiple chances to preorder this set (which I was fully intending to do), I ended up not pulling the trigger once I heard of Takara's Ginrai/Godbomber set coming later on with Cab and Minerva (especially since I already have Wheelie with GoShooter). I still really want that Metalhawk, but as popular as he was in Japan, I hope and expect there to be a Takara offering of it at some point. Likewise, as others have said, I think the clones will eventually come out in sets as well. I did want that Thunderwing head and Tidal Wave (which would never ever be transformed into the hideous jet mode Broadside exhibited), but not enough to double-dip on Ginrai. Plus I'm hoping that some of the Ginrai/Godbomber foot connectivity issues are better in the new release, though I'm not holding my breath. That being said, I fully agree with the expectation that BBTS will have a number of the sets in stock once the preorders arrive in-store, so people should still have a chance to get it. I was actually surprised the preorders hadn't sold out faster than they did. I might have also pounced (no pun intended) on this had I not been waiting to spend money on Tokyo Toy Show 2017 Black Convoy when he finally emerged on BBTS yesterday.

 

Magnus Prime's trailer sports unusually large Autobot insignias, too.

However, the headmaster is a moot point for those buying the PE Jinrai upgrades.

 

Why should they? Not everyone has the skill, time or knowledge to do so.

Perhaps you could offer to paint these figures for them as a free service?

Because TT Godbomber is compatible with this Hasbro PMOP, there goes any chance of me picking up TT Godbomber at retail cost. It'll be sold out before I can buy one and will have to resort to evilBay and it's over inflated scalper prices to try to get one for my TT Ginrai!
