Hey, everybody, hope you're all doing well.

Today I'd like to show you my custom Miner Megatron as seen in the IDW comic mini-series Megatron Origin.





IDW comics rendition of Megatron is easily my favourite take on the quintessential evil Decepticon leader, but in the long-running IDW continuity Megatron was not always a megalomaniacal tyrant.





In his younger years Megatron of Tarn was a writer, philosopher and deep thinker dissatisfied with Cybertron's established caste system, forcing the physically powerful into menial, physically demanding jobs.





Toiling away his life in an off-world Energon mine, Megatron took his first step toward his genocidal destiny when he flung his pick-axe into visiting Senator Decimus' shoulder and accidently murdered one of the Senator's guards.



Megatron (as in Neutron bomb) is a heavily repainted Siege Megatron with black and yellow hazard stripe decals courtesy of ToyHax.





I have used enamel paints, as I always do, for their durability and excellent coverage.





The auger tip on Megatron's shoulder, and serving as his vehicle mode bore, is a repurposing of Matrix Workshop's Siege Impactor accessory. The filler panels on Megatron's arms are designed by Tim Heada.





Megatron's pick-axe is a repainted Pteraxadon, I've renamed it Terracowl, inspired by the winged creatures native to Hydrus Four in Another Time & Place.

Looks fantastic. I'd been happy with my TR Megs and able to resist the lure of Siege Megs... until now. Guess I'll be stopping by Target on Monday to adopt one.

Wow amazing work. I was not a huge fan of that particular comic but this is a great look and quality paint work. Considering this for Siege Megatron now that I have the Netflix copy

Ugh. I want a Megatron figure but I can't find the right one.

 

I was looking for the right Megatron for years.

Combiner Wars has a great tank mode, but the robot isn't what I want in a Megatron.
Titans Return was very tempting, but the proportions and lines just didn't do it for me.
Cyberverse looks okay, but the only appropriately articulated figure on the market is a small deluxe.
I didn't buy any of them, I just waited.

Siege Megatron isn't perfect, there are some places I wish he were more articulated, but it's a great toy I enjoy very much. And it's a great base for customising.

I have another style of IDW Megatron custom finished, I just need to get him in the photobooth. Maybe later today.

I'm really impressed with this guy. I'm not sure why it wasn't on the list of re-paints officially. Not extremely difficult but super effective. Top notch work.
