As much as I love the homage, it gonna be a no for me. Too simple and honestly I think the 2005 figure wears it better. Lol

Given Weaponizers, the extra ports have an excuse.

I'm wondering about what appears to be the pinned joint on the red panels on the outside of each piece of leg armor.

Those flip out and wrap around the front, but not for any transformation this thing currently does.

To each their own, of course. I was thinking of the overall production quality of the figure... look at how much more we used to get for the same price.

But even putting the smaller size and hollow plastic aside, the design of the original seems a lot stronger to me. The original actually had some clever bits in its transformation, like using the side windows for his chest, while the cab windows end up on his shoulders.

This new figure just uses fake everything: fake chest windows, fake cab shoulders, fake wheels on his wings...
And the lazy partsforming with the front wheel/grill pieces... it's just boring to me. Happy for those who like him, though.

Wow, the original was what...39.99....and now...50 bucks and shriiiiink. Sure the engineering is a step up ....but....look at the difference.

I am going to have to do something about where those front wheels are in alt mode. It looks broken.

It looks pretty good, but holy crap, any more parts-forming and it'd need a KREO label slapped on the box!

Not American, but I was curious on the pricing. My Parents bought the original for me as a kid so I did not have any idea. According to "US Inflation Calculator" If Cybertron Prime came out in 2005, Inflation would make him 51.37 today.

I actually do not like this. At all. The voyager class is leaps and bounds better than this. This is for lack of better descriptive terms like when megazord becomes mega super ultra tiger dragon tankazord. And you just don’t know how to look at it.

those images really drives home how good we had it over fourteen years ago, back then Leader Class meant something. now we get something about a Universe Onslaught size for around twice the price, and we don't even get lights or sound anymore.

    it's a sobering sight.

They released some line-art for a Cybertron Optimus and Megatron, but that was a year and a half ago and there hasn't been anything on them since.

It's almost as if additional engineering increases the cost of manufacturing.

How come this toy keeps getting cooler? Not only is it a two in one Cybertron/G1 homage, but it also can be configured into stuff like this. The toy looks to have a lot of versatility. This configuration you put together in the photo editor brings to mind the RID '15 Optimus design — which I always found cool, and it's finally getting a decent toy based on it albeit unintentionally. Makes me long for a CHUG RID '15 Strongarm even more, however.

The toy is not really perfect, though. I'm burnt out on partsforming already so I am definitely keeping the wheels on the bumper for inner bot mode. And I am not a fan of yellow eyes on the G1 looking Prime mode. I know that's how the original toy toy was, but I preferred blue the minute I saw it. I will probably repaint those. After that, the battle damage is some of the worst placed so I will have to deal with that.

But at the end of that, it will be the perfect Prime sans an Earth mode. I was particularly impressed with the vehicle size comparison with other toys of the line. The cab actually looks sorta impressive, unlike the Voyager.

Never liked the yellow eyes tbf. Grew up with the blue eys look more but this ain't bad here.

So long as he goes with Voyager Megatron this has my attention.
