So first Ultra Magnus had the RID Magnus vehicle mode, now Optimus Prime gets the Cybtron Prime Super Mode and vehicle mode, what's next something from Animated?

 

Not my era but it does look pretty nifty. Would buy an IDW Pyro repaint/retool though!  

 

Haven't picked up Magnus yet, but looking over the pics, he does have a COMBAT port on the arm armor.

So you can do bigger GF/Cybertron Gloves using them it seems. The arms look like they are exactly the same to fit. Which suggest that fold bumper has pegs on it, which might be how it attaches to the front of truck mode. It doesn't look like bot mod has wheels on his back like Magnus does, and the waist does rotate for the transformation.

So either it has the fold up bumper like magnus unarmored and the gloves store elsewhere, or the gloves peg in on the sides of the front under the cab. Could be either method. But with how they don't look like fake wheels, I'm leaning on it may be the actual bumper and they retooled that part of Magnus with the rest of the cab mode changes.

Siege Unarmored is pretty close to that already... (His earth truck.)
And there was the previous Orion TR Elite Guard figure that was animated referencing too.

So probably more still coming that nods animated.    
They have been celebrating a lot of that with things like Lockdown, how Hound looks like Bulkhead with a beard, and random other things. So it's not isolated to Prime either.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see something from animated in WFC2. Lockdown and Devcon would be something interesting for IDW to cover early on too, and it'd make sense to do Lugnut potentially, or Blackout drawing heavily off of his Animated season 3 appearance.

 

I thought those two guns he comes with were an homage to RiD Ultra Magnus's guns(or at least the place where you plug his gun in to change his sound effects. Turns out I was half right. The front half is totally the side guns Cybertron Optimus Prime came with and the back half is the Ultra Magnus homage.

 

I heard some say Ironhide should be used for a new Snow Cat figure.

 

If you guys all ask nicely, maybe TonTon will review Leader Optimus Prime next, he has it in hand

Still think Energon Inferno seems more likely. But Snowcat is possible. It'd make as much sense as E-Inferno with red to red and white(ratchet) to white.
More, they really should consider E-Snowcat to Ratchet for a GI Joe version over in Selects.

Though maybe split the difference on colors and do the E-Roadblock instead from Ironhide.

Is awfully interesting how much of the combat system backpack stuff does end up looking like E-Inferno/Roadblock's Powerlinxed top mode.

First I get the RID magnus alt mode with a G1 bot bod.

Now cybertron prive lives again. Minus them not coloring his lightbars.

Ahhh Springer.. They haven't made a new one yet after T30.
I think it's about time they make a new one. G1 inspired.

 

He was from the leaked list lineup and is allegedly the G1 version.
Then allegedly pulled from the list, though likely is still slated. We'll know more about that one probably at Toy Fair since he was slated for WFC Siege seemingly near the summer.

Really wouldn't matter if if was the G1 version or a new spaceship version. The character is loved enough the spaceship version would still be a hot seller released later, and since Magnus is done G1 styled, would be great to have Springer to go with him in a 35th annie year to match the TFTM lineup, and nod back to thrilling 30 anyway.

Would be interesting if he matched Energon Sprung's helicopter that was an homage to him anyway. The other "Bulkhead". The combat system would match that same play feature that one had. So could a spaceship version really. The Armada Minicon "Makeshift" is a good example of how it could be done with that as some kind of weaponizer upgrade on the helicopter.

Bot mode is most definitely G1 though if the current lineup is any indication. It's the vehicle modes that are the question, and how they interact with the COMBAT system.

Well, the mold is pretty much done for that already with WFC Sideswipe...
It'd need to include Visper though as Windsheer and have some kind of sword included though...

 

But will it have the flying truck mode of the original?

 

I think they try to please both fandoms and also dig a new pool.
What we really need is a new tv show that is significantly better than that cybertron garbage..

 

Needs an extra wheel on the front. Everything else looks fine.

 

Have mix feelings here, glad to see an armored Prime but this is a monument of how Transformers quality has decreased with the years.

A pic of.him next Cybertron Leader Optimus Prime will be really sad.

 

As happy as I am that they are finally doing a non G1 Optimus I really don\'t care enough about any Optimus to want several Optimus toys. 
I might be tempted by this though, but mostly in hopes of getting more UT updates.

 

The real question is whether he will have a wing saber

 

I'd assumed those parts were so it would have two wheels instead of a wheel and a gap up front, but evidently not. My best guess is that removing them and putting them on the arms is optional, and you get some additional 5mm ports in exchange?

As a G1 fan, I had reservations about Optimus as a fire engine, but the Omega Prime combined mode was awesome enough to make up for it.

When Cybertron Optimus was released, 1) He had the most awesome fire engine alt mode I'd ever seen, 2) at the time, it was the closest thing to the God Ginrai toy I'd always wanted (translation - Not a brick), and 3) he had a closer resemblance to G1 Optimus than his earlier RID counterpart. I was converted. Optimus could be a fire engine.

(Of course, as a character, my favourite firetruck Optimus was the Animated version. Cybertron Prime looked cool, but Animated Optimus had a soul).
