Well that is annoying. I just got Voyager Prime only to find that a a Leader Prime with a Super Mode is coming? And I love me Prime with a Super Mode. Nah, I am gonna pass on this one. I got Cog and strapped him onto Prime for a Super Mode. Works for me.

I mean, if you hold on to Voyager Prime, odds are he'll have a Godbomber to combine with by this time next year.

I just want to say that I'm so happy they are doing this and it's a must buy for me. Other than being based off of Cybertron Prime/Galaxy Convoy, it's nice to see the design team looking past G1. I hope this means that we may get more figures that are from other era's of the franchise....I'm looking at you Cybertron Defense Hot Shot head on Seige Hound boxart.

something something increased oil prices, something something production costs, etc....

(even though oil prices have been in the toilet for the last couple of years and production shifted to Vietnam to save money)

I think the latest excuse has something to do with the environment now? Not sure, hard to keep up.

This is pathetic, no matter what the Hasbro Defense Force says (and this is coming from someone who really likes Siege so far).

How much was original Cybertron Optimus Prime going for when it was initially released? $40 or $50? If it was $50, it would sell for $65 today (source). If it sold for $40 then it would be $51 today. New leader class figures are going for $45-50. So... I'm guessing Hasbro had too choose either smaller figures and keep similar price points or same size figures but increase the price by $10-to-$15. That's just my arm chair analysis. But hey, once "Hasbro goes down the tubes" all ya'll naysayers can celebrate because clearly Hasbro had no clue on how to handle the brand, while making fans happy, while also managing rapid changes in the retail environment.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened. It was the only way to keep the $50 price point, which is probably where Hasbro feels the threshold of price points should max out for a regular retail release.

It may have been a trade worth making, too. Despite the complaints about the toys being a little smaller or the battle damage paint there's not a lot of negativity being thrown at the Siege toys as a whole, I think people see there's been a bump in quality. I think this is the first time in a very long time that the release of the latest Generations toys hasn't been accompanied by a laundry list of QC complaints.

    ....again.

    PotP Leader = $20 Deluxe + $30 Voyager armor.

    Siege Leader = $30 Voyager + $20 Deluxe armor.

So? Had they instead done a $30 Voyager + $30 Voyager armor to make them the same size as a Prime Wars Trilogy Leader it would have gone over the $50 threshold, would it not? The goal was clearly not to do that.

That's the point. They had an idea, and there was only one way to do it.

Especially since they sort of painted themselves into a corner with the robot modes having to scale with each other.

You have a point. To be honest, I was considering getting Siege Ultra Magnus as an alternative Magnus (IDW fans may get what I mean), though I'd prefer a Delta Magnus repaint. This, though, is going to come across as a Mini-Me of the original.

I suppose I'm probably just disappointed that we didn't get a new RID Leader Optimus because I really wanted an updated Omega Prime.

Never said that Hasbro will go down the tubes, but I question what the real reasons behind the constant price increases are, when both materials costs and production costs have either lowered or stayed the same.

I agree, look at BW Optimal and POTP Optimal, the older version will almost always be bigger for a number of reasons, petroleum, oil, plastic, shipping, drivers, routes, etc was all cheaper back in the day, heck I remember when cheeseburgers were big and cost 58cents and I remember when a movie ticket was 7 bucks
