IMO, having 100% of all Cybertronian names be unique with not a single repeated use in history in fiction is silly. Common names should be a thing.

 

I disagree. Armada didn’t have to be a copy of G1. Armada Cyclonus was nothing like G1 Cyclonus. Megatron, Red Alert, Thrust, Scavenger and others were nothing like their G1namesakes either.

those names were lost due to trademark, wheeljack and armada wheeljack is a different scenario and you know it. what you are suggesting means that thrilling 30 armada starscream, combiner wars armada megatron and siege galaxy upgrade optimus prime should not have kept their legacy names

I think, name adjustments happen. In this case, I'd say that if it were a Selects figure (we don't know if they intend to do this figure, but I think it would be on par with Winter Megatron) then it would keep the name with a prefix.

It seems like to me Hasbro doesn't want to confuse customers, I think for that reason we haven't seen Siege BumbleBee this season. Which is disappointing. But normal legacy Wheeljack hasn't shown his face yet in a line devoted to essential G1 characters. Thus the first Wheeljack will probably not be Armada Wheeljack, thus a name adjustment. But like I said, if it's in the Selects line I doubt they'd care very much about the naming convention.

Neither of us will be pushing the button. We'll have to what happens.

It has nothing to do with continuity but with copyright laws. Hasbro needed to preserve the names and the showrunners slapped them on left and right. Not aining to the 80s audience anyways and without a care for the previous show. Since it isn't a shared continuity anyways.
The only oddity would be if the two shows would run simultaneously and have the characters have new figures on the wall in stores and a kid asked for a wheeljack transformer and you as a parent have to pick between the red and white car.
Which will never happen...

Having shared continuity with figures only happens with very exclusive sets like the UW Galvatronus set.

I don't think it is even relevant which is which if we are talking G1 since G1 contains (s1/4) headmasters, masterforce, victory and zone. For continuity sake only beast wars era is linked. The rest simply isnt g1.

 

I'm pretty sure the reason we don't have a Siege Bumble is because they killed the Legends class for Micromasters in this line more than anything.

If they really need a new name for Wheeljack, I say it should be Rampage. (his Densetsu no Micron name) The MMC Feralcon names are way better than the official Predacon names IMO, so I'd just rename them with those. Not like MMC can sue them.
